Shellshag
Shellshag is an American two piece punk rock band, formed in 1997, that have released records on Don Giovanni Records, Mauled by Tigers, We Are Busy Bodies, Thrillhouse Records, Plan it X South, Dead Broke Records and their own imprint Starcleaner Records. Their first EP was recorded by Gary Young. Although they never kept careful track, it is estimated that the duo has played upwards of 1,980 shows since their humble beginnings in San Francisco's Mission District. This was achieved by near constant touring, including a year long tour. Shellshag has shared stages across the world with famous acts such as Iggy Pop, The Cramps, The Slits, Laura Stevenson, Ted Leo, Dos, Mike Watt + The Missing Men, The Dicks, AJJ, Kimya Dawson, Screaming Females, Japanther, and The Marked Men to name a few. dos (from the Spanish word for "two") is an American Rock music, rock group composed of Mike Watt and Kira Roessler, who both sing and play bass guitar. Critic Greg Prato describes their unusual instrumentation as "a haunting yet intriguing and original sound." Hickey (also known as "The Naked Cult of Hickey") was an American melodic punk band from San Francisco's Mission District, California, United States. The band often recorded, released and distributed their own music. Elaborate and very personal artwork was the style used for the band's records, and they were well known for their raucous and sometimes antagonizing live performances. Founding members Hickey was started in 1994 by guitarist/singer Matty Luv and drummer Aesop Dekker following the demise of their previous band, FuckBoyz, who had moved from south Florida to San Francisco's Mission District earlier in the year. Christopher Paul Gethard (; born May 23, 1980) is an American actor, comedian and writer. He was the host of ''The Chris Gethard Show'', a talk show based in New York City, which aired from 2011 to 2018. He hosts the podcasts ''Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People'' and ''New Jersey is the World''. Early life Gethard grew up in West Orange, New Jersey, the son of Sally and Ken Gethard, and attended Redwood Elementary, Edison Middle School, and West Orange High School (New Jersey), West Orange High School. The Marked Men is an American punk rock band from Denton, Texas, United States, composed of guitarists/vocalists Mark Ryan and Jeff Burke, bassist Joe Ayoub, and drummer Mike Throneberry. They have released four albums through Rip Off Records, Dirtnap Records, and Swami Records. Their most recent album, ''Ghosts'', was released in 2009 through Dirtnap. Prior to joining The Marked Men, the members had all performed in other Denton-area punk rock bands. Burke was a member of The Vomit Punx, The Rolemodels, and E-Class. Burke, Ryan, and Throneberry all performed together in the Reds. When their bassist Chris Pulliam moved to Japan, they added Ayoub to form The Marked Men. Japanther was an American punk band established by Matt Reilly and Ian Vanek, then students at Pratt Institute. Japanther was featured in the 2006 Whitney Biennial, the 2007 Performa Biennial, and the 2011 Venice Biennale, and collaborated with a diverse pool of artists such as gelitin, Penny Rimbaud, Gee Vaucher, Dan Graham, Eileen Myles, Kevin Bouton-Scott, robbinschilds, Dawn Riddle, Claudia Meza, Todd James, Devin Flynn, Ninjasonik, Anita Sparrow and Spank Rock. Screaming Females were an American rock band from New Brunswick, New Jersey comprising Marissa Paternoster on vocals and guitar, Jarrett Dougherty on drums, and Mike Abbate on bass. They released their debut album ''Baby Teeth (Screaming Females album), Baby Teeth'' in 2006. The band were featured on NPR, Last Call with Carson Daly, and MTV. Kimya Dawson
Kimya Dawson (born November 17, 1972) is an American folk singer-songwriter, one half of the anti-folk duo the Moldy Peaches. Dawson's work with the Moldy Peaches earned them a cult following and critical acclaim, with their 2001 song " Anyone Else but You" landing a spot in multiple acclaimed indie film soundtracks. " Anyone Else but You" as performed by Michael Cera and Elliot Page charted on the Billboard Hot 100 after its prominent inclusion in the 2007 film '' Juno'', the soundtrack of which includes several songs by Dawson and her associated musical acts. AJJ is an American folk punk band from Phoenix, Arizona, originally formed in 2004 as Andrew Jackson Jihad. Dicks were an American punk rock band from Austin, Texas, formed in 1980 and initially disbanded in 1986. After the first breakup, singer Gary Floyd formed the band Sister Double Happiness, with drummer Lynn Perko, then later fronted a project called Black Kali Ma. In 2004, The Dicks reunited and were active until 2016. The Dicks went through two incarnations in the 1980s, changing its lineup when Floyd moved from Austin to San Francisco in 1983. Mike Watt + The Missingmen
The Missingmen are an American punk rock trio fronted by Minutemen/ Firehose/ Stooges bassist Mike Watt. The band features Watt, guitarist Tom Watson ( Slovenly, The Pair Of Pliers, The Jom And Terry Show, Red Krayola), and drummer Raul Morales ( FYP, Killer Dreamer, The Leeches, Mike Watt and the Secondmen). The band's name is a humorous reference to the fact that during a 2005 European tour behind Watt's album '' The Secondman's Middle Stand'', neither of the original Secondmen ( Pete Mazich and Jerry Trebotic) participated.
