Shelley is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Canning. History The suburb was part of Riverton until the mid-1960s; its name is believed to refer to shells found in the area on the shores of the Canning River. Boundary The suburb's northern foreshore is bound by Riverton Drive North. In the east, the borders starts from Riverton Drive East, Barbican Street East, Tudor Avenue South, Tribute Street, Modillion Avenue, Corinthian Road East. A stretch of Leach Highway forms the south western border of the suburb until it goes up to Fifth Avenue and zigzags up back to Riverton Drive North. Education Shelley has one primary school located within its borders, Shelley Primary School which is off Monota Avenue. Shelley is located within the Rossmoyne Senior High School zone and is close to Curtin University. Rossmoyne Senior High School
Rossmoyne Senior High School is a public co-educational high day school in the City of Melville, located on Keith Road, Bull Creek, a southern riverside suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 1968, it is currently the largest school in Western Australia, with 2816 enrolled students as of 2025 History Construction of Rossmoyne Senior High School commenced in 1967 on land that was owned by the Webb family who originally came from Scotland. It opened for students the following year (1968). The school is located on Keith Road in Bull Creek but was named after the suburb that had grown rapidly around the school site. Cannington Railway Station
Cannington is a suburban railway station on the Armadale and Thornlie–Cockburn lines, serving the suburb of Cannington south of Perth, Western Australia. It is located from Perth Station, and is part of the Transperth commuter rail network. It temporarily closed on 20 November 2023 as part of the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project, and reopened on 8 June 2025. History The original Cannington station was located between Station Street and Crawford Road in East Cannington, and was one of the original stations operational when the Armadale Line opened in 1889. Canning Vale, Western Australia
Canning Vale is a southern suburb of Perth, from the central business district. Its local government areas are the City of Canning (west of Nicholson Road) and the City of Gosnells (east of Nicholson Road). History Canning Vale's name derives from the Canning River, located about to the suburb's northeast. It was locally known as North Jandakot until 1925. Until the late 1970s, Canning Vale was a farming area consisting of mostly market gardens and dairy farms due to its swampy terrain with an unusually high abundance of permanent fresh water. Fremantle Railway Station
Fremantle railway station is the terminus of Transperth's Fremantle line in Western Australia. History The original Fremantle station opened in Cliff Street on 1 March 1881 as the terminus of the Eastern Railway to Guildford via Perth. As the Eastern Railway was extended, its importance grew. It became an important hub for gold miners arriving in Western Australia via ship and then travelling to the Yilgarn and Eastern Goldfields when the line opened to Kalgoorlie in 1896. In 1907, a new station and marshalling yards were established 300 metres to the north-east on the site of the former Fremantle Railway Workshops to better service the newly constructed Fremantle Harbour. The station was designed by William Dartnall, Chief Engineer of Existing Lines of the Railway Department in 1905. The CircleRoute is a pair of circular Transperth bus routes through Perth's suburbs. History The CircleRoute was introduced in two stages. On 16 February 1998, the first stage of the CircleRoute commenced operating between Fremantle and Oats Street stations via Murdoch station. It was operated by Swan Transit with Mercedes-Benz O305 buses in a special livery with purple bands blended into the green blocks of the standard colour scheme, with an elliptical shaped logo featuring two arrows in white. On 22 February 1999, the route was extended to become a 133 stop, 84 kilometre circular route. All four Perth contractors; Path Transit, Perth Bus, Southern Coast Transit and Swan Transit, operated services.
