Shefqet Dajiu
Shefqet bej Dajiu was one of the signatories of the Albanian Declaration of Independence in 1912. He was the second secretary of the Congress of Vlora, when independence was declared. He was later named as prefect of Fieri, a post he held until the First World War. During the next years he did not take part in politics, and was shown again during World War II, this time as a collaborator of the Axis powers, Axis. He was killed in 1946, by the communist regime, for his collaborative activity. Shefqet Krasniqi (born June 20, 1966) is a Kosovar Muslim cleric and scholar of Islam. He formerly held posts of lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Studies (Pristina) and Imam of the Imperial Mosque (Pristina). He is an expert in Islamic law, author, translator and publisher. Krasniqi has been the focus of controversy for his provocative comments concerning other faith communities, traditional gender roles and alleged radicalism. His name was mentioned in the U.S. State Department’s "International Religious Freedom Report for 2013" for allegedly negative views of the Catholic community and "anti-Semitic rhetoric". Lieutenant Colonel Ali Shefqet Shkupi, also known as Ali Shefqet Bey, was the first Chief of Supreme Staff of the Albanian Army bearing the functions of the Supreme Commander in the Albanian Government of Ismail Qemal Vlora. Family Ali Shefqeti was the son of Hysen Shefqeti, and Albanian originating from Peja who had settled in Skopje. His mother was a local Albanian woman from a rich family. Ali was born in Skopje in September 1883. His brother was Naxhi Shkupi, another Albanian nationalist who invested most of his wealth into the Albanian new state. Education Ali received his elementary education in Salonika, later studied at the Monastir Military High School, the Turkish Military Academy (Kara Harp Okulu), and finally Academy of General Staff in Istanbul, which he completed in 1905. Shefqet Mehmetali Stringa (1896–31 October 1947) was a banking pioneer in Albania. Biography Shefqet Stringa was born in Elbasan, a city in central Albania, to a very well educated family. His father was a financier of the Turkish administration during the Ottoman regime. He attended his school in Elbasan. During the academic term of 1917–1918, the mayor of the city of Elbasan, Aqif Bicaku, and the Austrian Colonel Zitkovski, gave scholarships to a group of students, including Shefqet Stringa. He continued his studies in the Business Academy of Vienna, and received a doctorate on 7 July 1922. During his studies in Austria, Shefqet Stringa was active in the student organization "Albania", established in 1918. He was one, in a group of scholars who wrote a letter to the Peace Conference in Paris, who gave his contribution. Shefqet Topi (1934–1998) was an Albanian footballer who played most of his professional career as a goalkeeper for Besa Kavajë football club. He was also capped with the Albania National Football Team in the early 1960s. Shefqet Vërlaci bej (; 15 December 1877 – 21 July 1946), also known as Shevket Verlaci, was an Albanian politician and wealthy landowner who served as the 12th Prime Minister of Albania. Biography Shefqet Vërlaci was born on 15 December 1877 in Elbasan, Manastir Vilayet, Ottoman Empire, now modern day central Albania, into an Albanian family. In 1922, Vërlaci was the biggest landowner in Albania. He was the leader of the Progressive Party, the biggest conservative party in Albania, which firmly opposed any agrarian reform reducing the landowners' property. The Progressive Party included some North Albanian clan chiefs and prominent Muslim landowners as its members. He was elected a deputy for the first time in the elections of April 5, 1921.
