Sharmell Sullivan-Huffman (born November 2, 1970) is an American former professional wrestler, beauty queen, dancer and professional wrestling valet. She is best known for her time with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as Queen Sharmell alongside her husband Booker T. She first came to prominence in the wrestling world in World Championship Wrestling as part of the Nitro Girls under the name Storm. Early life and education Sullivan was valedictorian of Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana, in 1988, and graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1997 with a degree in mathematics. Booker T. Huffman Jr. (born March 1, 1965), better known by his ring name Booker T, is an American semi-retired professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he serves as a color commentator on the NXT (WWE brand), NXT brand. He is also the owner and founder of the independent promotion Reality of Wrestling (ROW). Nitro Girls
The Nitro Girls were a dance team in World Championship Wrestling introduced in July 1997. Centered around Kimberly Page, the group generally consisted of a roster of seven members, all of whom had some degree of professional dance experience. Their initial function was to dance and entertain the live crowds during commercial breaks of WCW Monday Nitro as well as engage in promotional work for the company, however, beginning in late 1999, many of the members began to become involved in wrestling storylines and acted as valets and managers to the wrestlers. The group was de facto disbanded by early 2000, with a number of the former members having adopted entirely new personas. Theodore Roosevelt High School (Gary)
Theodore Roosevelt College and Career Academy (TRCCA), formerly known as Theodore Roosevelt High School and often referred to as Gary Roosevelt, was a charter school located in the Midtown neighborhood of Gary, Indiana, United States. In February 2020, the Distressed Unit Appeal Board voted to close Roosevelt after a series of burst pipes throughout the winter of 2019 left the school in need of expensive repairs. At the time of its closing, the school was managed by EdisonLearning and was divided into a senior and collegiate academy for grades 9–12 and a junior academy for grades 7–8. Roosevelt was part of the Gary Community School Corporation until 2012, when the Indiana Department of Education took control of the school due to poor academic performance and contracted with EdisonLearning to operate the school. WCW Power Plant
The WCW Power Plant was a professional wrestling school in Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia, owned and operated by World Championship Wrestling (WCW), a subsidairy of WarnerMedia, Time Warner. The school was founded by wrestler Jody Hamilton, who opened the training center in 1989 in Lovejoy, Georgia. In 1991, it became the official school of WCW and relocated to Jonesboro, Georgia. By 1995, the school became known as the WCW Power Plant and relocated again, this time to Atlanta where Turner Broadcasting (the parent company of WCW) was headquartered. The school closed in March 2001 when WCW's assets were sold to the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE). The Miss Black America beauty contest is a competition for young African-American women. The pageant has garnered the support of artists, activists and performers including Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, and Oprah Winfrey. After 40 years, in 2009 the pageant had a "kick off" in Washington, D.C. to rebrand the competition. The first teen winner was Ashley Anglin. James Brown
