Shallow Reign
Shallow Reign is a band from Deep Ellum, the East of Dallas, Texas arts and entertainment district. The band was one of the first to become popular in the areaMatt WeitCrawlin' back from ChicagoMike Morgan slows his mojo hand with a soulful sound June 06, 1996 Dallas Observer from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Original Theater Gallery booking agent Jeff Liles described their sound as neopsychedelic. The songs revolved around layered guitar riffs with melancholy lyrics and a dynamic rhythm section. The original line-up included Bob Watson, Mark Thomas, Jan Paul Davidsson and Patrick Sugg. Deep Ellum is a neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, home to a diverse array of arts venues, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, businesses, and urban residential units near downtown in East Dallas. Ian Astbury
Ian Robert Astbury (born 14 May 1962) is an English singer, best known as the lead vocalist, frontman and a founding member of the rock band the Cult. During various hiatuses from the Cult, Astbury fronted the short-lived band Holy Barbarians (band), Holy Barbarians in 1996, and later from 2002 to 2007 served as the lead singer of Manzarek–Krieger, Riders on the Storm, a Doors (band), Doors tribute band that also featured original Doors members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. Astbury replaced Rob Tyner during an MC5 reunion in 2003, and has contributed guest vocals on several recordings by other artists. Holy Barbarians (band)
Holy Barbarians was a short-lived rock band formed in 1996 after English frontman Ian Astbury left the Cult. Astbury was joined with three musicians from the United States, guitarist Patrick Sugg along with brothers Matt and Scott Garrett. The band recorded one album, ''Cream''. Astbury chose the name of the group in reference to the 1959 novel by Lawrence Lipton of the same name. The one album recorded by the group was recorded at Parr Street Studios in Astbury's hometown of Liverpool; it was named ''Cream'' after a local club the band frequented during the recording process. Astbury and Sugg wrote the album's songs together, after having first met at a Wayne Kramer show in the United States.
