Shai Held
Shai Held (born July 2, 1971) is President, Dean, and Chair in Jewish Thought at the Hadar institute, which he founded in 2006 with Rabbis Elie Kaunfer and Ethan Tucker. Education Held attended Ramaz High School and studied at Yeshivat HaMivtar in Efrat, Israel. Held earned his A.B. from Harvard University in Religion, and went on to earn his M.A. in Jewish philosophy at the Jewish Theological Seminary in addition to rabbinic ordination. He earned a PhD from Harvard University in Religious Studies; his dissertation is titled ''Reciprocity and Responsiveness: Self-Transcendence and the Dynamics of Covenant in the Theology and Spirituality of Abraham Joshua Heschel''. Elie Kaunfer
Elie Kaunfer (b. 1973) is an American rabbi who serves as president and CEO of Yeshivat Hadar in Manhattan. Kaunfer has been named as a leading American rabbi by ''The Forward'' and ''Newsweek''. Career Kaunfer received a doctorate from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) is a Conservative Jewish education organization in New York City, New York. It is one of the academic and spiritual centers of Conservative Judaism as well as a hub for academic scholarship in Jewish studies ...; his dissertation concerned Jewish liturgy. Kaunfer was a co-founder and served as the executive director of Mechon Hadar (Hadar Institute), also known as Yeshivat Hadar. Ethan Tucker
Ethan Tucker is rosh yeshiva (rabbinic dean) and co-founder of Yeshivat Hadar in Manhattan. Early life and education Tucker is the son of Rabbi Gordon Tucker and Hadassah Lieberman, and the stepson of the late former U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman. Career Tucker is considered an authority on Egalitarianism in Jewish law. He is the co-author, with Rabbi Micha'el Rosenberg, of ''Gender Equality and Prayer in Jewish Law'' (2016). Tucker is also the co-host, with Hadar colleague Rabbi Avi Killip, of the podcast, ''Responsa Radio'', produced by Jewish Public Media. The Ramaz School is an American coeducational Jewish Modern Orthodox day school which offers a dual curriculum of general studies taught in English and Judaic studies taught in Hebrew. The school is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. Yeshivat Torat Yosef - Hamivtar (ישיבת תורת יוסף - המבתר) was a men's yeshiva located in Efrat in the West Bank. The Roshei Yeshiva are Rabbi Yonatan Rosensweig and Rabbi Shlomo Riskin. The institution is primarily focused on post college-aged students and is part of the Ohr Torah Stone educational institutions founded by Rabbi Shlomo Riskin and Rabbi Chaim Brovender. Yeshivat Hamivtar is closely associated with the Modern Orthodox and Religious Zionist/Dati Leumi schools of contemporary Orthodox Judaism. The Yeshiva emphasizes teaching its students how to become more independent learners, especially in Talmud. It caters to both students with strong religious backgrounds, and students adopting a more observant lifestyle.
