Scânteia Train Accident
The Scânteia train accident occurred on August 14, 2009 at 14:10 local time (UTC+3) when at least 14 people died after a collision between a minibus and a train in Scânteia, Iași County, Romania on County Road 248C. The death toll was initially reported as 10. It was the worst accident in Romania in fifteen years. Accident A minibus, with 16 people on board, was hit by a train at a railway crossing in the county of Iași, near the town of Scânteia. According to Under-Secretary of State for Health Raed Arafat, 14 people died, including the driver and a child, and three were seriously injured. The Huțani bus accident was the deadliest road accident in Romanian history. On 29 June 1980, an overloaded bus (83 people on 40 seats) overturned in a five-meter deep swamp in the village of Huțani, commune of Vlădeni, Botoșani County. 2013 Podgorica Bus Crash
The 2013 Podgorica bus crash was a traffic collision that occurred on 23 June 2013, near Kolašin, Montenegro, 30 km north of Podgorica. The crash took place when a Neoplan Tourliner coach bus departed the roadway during a heavy rainstorm and fell 40 m into a canyon. The 47 passengers, including two drivers from bus operator ''Gregory Tour'' and a guide from the tour organizer ''Maree Travel'', were on a six-day tour from Romania to Montenegro and Croatia. All were Romanian nationals. The final accident report revealed the bus failed to negotiate a curve at the end of a tunnel due to the driver's excessive speed and slippery road conditions. In total, 18 people were killed and another 30 wounded. Attempts to rescue the survivors were inhibited by the rocky terrain of the region.
