Sečovlje Saltpans Natural Park
Sečovlje Saltpans Natural Park (, ) is a landscape park (protected area), landscape park in southwestern Slovenia covering the area of Sečovlje Saltpans near the village of Sečovlje. The salt evaporation pond covers an area of , while saltworks lie along the mouth of the Dragonja, Dragonja River, covering an area of . Visitors provide an important source of income for the park. Due to its specific geographic constraints and other factors, (and especially in order to encourage visitors to leave their vehicles outside the park boundaries) it is hoped that electric vehicle, electric 'game watching vehicles' (electric public transport) for visitors can be introduced. Salt Evaporation Pond
A salt evaporation pond is a shallow artificial salt pan designed to extract salts from sea water or other brines. The salt pans are shallow and expansive, allowing sunlight to penetrate and reach the seawater. Natural salt pans are formed through geologic processes, where evaporating water leaves behind salt deposits. Some salt evaporation ponds are only slightly modified from their natural version, such as the ponds on Great Inagua in the Bahamas, or the ponds in Jasiira, a few kilometres south of Mogadishu, where seawater is trapped and left to evaporate in the sun. During the process of salt winning, seawater or brine is fed into artificially created ponds from which water is drawn out by evaporation, allowing the salt to be subsequently harvested. Dragonja
The Dragonja (; ) is a long river in the northern part of the Istrian peninsula. It is a meandering river with a very branched basin and a small quantity of water. It has a pluvial regime and often dries up in summer. It features very diverse living environments and is home to a number of animal and plant species. The Dragonja has been a matter of a territorial dispute between Croatia and Slovenia, with its lowest portion '' de facto'' the border of the two countries.
