Señorita Panamá 1998
Señorita Panamá 1998, the 16th Señorita Panamá pageant and 33rd celebration of the ''Miss Panamá'' contest, was held in Teatro Anayansi Centro de Convenciones Atlapa, Panama City, Panama, on Saturday, September 5, 1998, after weeks of events. The winner of the pageant was Yamani Saied. The pageant was broadcast live on RPC-TV Panamá. About 14 contestants from all over Panamá competed for the prestigious crown. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, outgoing titleholder Tanisha Tamara Drummond Johnson of Colon crowned Yamani Esther Saied Calviño of Panama Centro as the new Señorita Panamá. In the same night was celebrated the election of the "Señorita Panamá World", was announced the winner of the Señorita Panamá Mundo title. Yamani Saied
Yamani Esther Saied Calviño (born May 12, 1978) is a Panamanian model and beauty pageant titleholder who won the Señorita Panamá 1998. She also represented Panama in the Miss Universe 1999, the ''48th Miss Universe''. Mahé is the largest island of Seychelles, with an area of , lying in the northeast of the Seychellois nation in the Somali Sea part of the Indian Ocean. Miss World
Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. Along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth, it is one of the Big Four beauty pageants. Miss Universe 1999 was the 48th Miss Universe pageant, held on 26 May 1999 at the Chaguaramas Convention Centre in Chaguaramas, Trinidad and Tobago. Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana was crowned by Wendy Fitzwilliam of Trinidad and Tobago at the end of the event.
