Seán Ryan (Offaly Gaelic Footballer)
Seán Ryan (1939 - 1 March 2012) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career with the Offaly senior team spanned nine seasons from 1959 to 1966. Ryan made his senior debut for Offaly during the 1958–59 league. Over the course of the next nine seasons he won two Leinster SFC medals. Ryan played his last game for Offaly in November 1966. He played for St Monica's while working with Aer Lingus in London. County Offaly (; ) is a Counties of Ireland, county in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is part of the Eastern and Midland Region and the Provinces of Ireland, province of Leinster. It is named after the Ancient Ireland, ancient Kingdom of Uí Failghe. It was formerly known as King's County, in honour of Philip II of Spain. The 1960 All-Ireland Football Championship was the 74th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter county, inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 1 May 1960 and ended on 25 September 1960. Fermanagh back in the Ulster championship for the first time since 1948. Kerry GAA, Kerry entered the championship as the 1959 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, defending champions. The Leinster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship and shortened to Leinster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Leinster GAA, Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Portarlington, historically called Cooletoodera (from ), is a town on the border of County Laois and County Offaly, Ireland. The River Barrow forms the border. Portarlington is around west of Dublin. The town was recorded in the 2022 census as having a population of 9,288.
