St Lachtain's GAA
St Lachtain's GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Freshford, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Founded in 1951, it is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. The club has won All-Ireland club titles in hurling (at Junior and Intermediate level) and in camogie (at senior level). History Located in the village of Freshford, St Lachtain's GAA Club was founded in 1951. The new club spent its early years operating in the junior ranks, eventually winning the Kilkenny JHC title in 1959 and securing senior status. Within two years in the top flight, St Lachtain's claimed their first ever Kilkenny SHC title after beating representative side Near South. A second SHC followed in 1963 after a defeat of Tullogher. The Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Kilkenny GAA) () is one of the 32 County board (Gaelic games), county boards of the GAA in Ireland and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kilkenny. Freshford () is a village and former town in the Barony (Ireland), barony of Cranagh (barony), Crannagh, County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is 13 km north-west of Kilkenny city. Hurling (, ') is an outdoor Team sport, team game of ancient Gaelic culture, Gaelic Irish origin, played by men and women. Séamus Cleere
Séamus Cleere (born 1940) is an Irish retired hurler. His career included three All-Ireland Championship victories with the Kilkenny senior hurling team, including one as captain in 1963. After beginning his career at club level with Bennettsbridge, Cleere joined the Kilkenny minor team as a 17-year-old in 1958 and subsequently had a brief stint with the junior side. He was promoted to the Kilkenny senior team in 1960. From his debut, Cleere was ever-present as a right wing-back and made 22 championship appearances in a career that ended with his last game in 1969. During that time he was part of three All-Ireland Championship-winning teams – in 1963, when he captained the side, 1967 and as a substitute in 1969. Paddy Moran (hurler)
Patrick Moran (born 1939) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a midfielder for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, Moran first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team. He made his senior debut during the 1961 championship. Moran subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won four All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions Moran won three Railway Cup medals. At club level he is an eight-time championship medallist with Bennettsbridge. Throughout his career Moran made 26 championship appearances.
