Seydou Barry (1943 – 2007) was a Senegalese painter. He is part of the artistic movement called the Dakar School (), affiliated with ''Négritude ''Négritude'' (from French "nègre" and "-itude" to denote a condition that can be translated as "Blackness") is a framework of critique and literary theory, mainly developed by francophone intellectuals, writers, and politicians in the Africa ...''. Biography Seydou Barry was born in 1943, in Thilogne in the Matam Region of Senegal. He attended the École Nationale des Beaux Arts in Dakar to study painting, and worked under artist Papa Ibra Tall. In 1963, Barry started exhibiting his own paintings. Barry worked at the National Tapestry Manufacturers in Thiès () as a painter and cartoonist, from 1961 to 1965. His works and those of his co-workers were made into tapestries in 1975, entitled ''N'Danaane''. Barry died on 21 August 2007, in Dakar. Seydou Doumbia (; born 31 December 1987) is an Ivorian former professional footballer who played as a forward. After beginning his career in the Ivory Coast and Japan, he arrived in Europe in 2008 to play for Swiss club Young Boys, where he was the top scorer and player of the year in the Swiss Super League in both of his seasons. Seydou Keïta (1921/23 – 21 November 2001) was a Malian photographer known for his portraits of people and families he took at his portrait photography studio in Mali's capital, Bamako, in the 1950s. His photographs are widely acknowledged not only as a record of Malian society but also as pieces of art. Biography Keïta was born in 1921 in Bamako, Mali, although the exact date is unknown. He was the oldest in a family of five children. His father Bâ Tièkòró and his uncle Tièmòkò were furniture makers. Keïta developed an interest in photography when his uncle gave him a Kodak Brownie with a film with eight shots in 1935, after returning from a trip to Senegal. Career Born in Marcory, Ivory Coast, Koné played youth football in his native country before starting his senior career in Burkina Faso with Racing Club Kadiogo, where he spent five seasons. Seydou Badian Kouyaté (April 10, 1928 – December 28, 2018) was a Malian writer and politician. He wrote the lyrics to the Malian national anthem, " Le Mali". Early life and education Born in Bamako, Kouyaté studied medicine at the University of Montpellier in France before returning to Mali. Career Under president Modibo Keïta, he wrote the words for Mali's national anthem, " Le Mali".
