Sevilla Football Club
Sevilla Fútbol Club () is a Spanish professional football club based in Seville, Andalusia, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football. The club was formed on 25 January 1890, making it Spain's oldest sporting club solely devoted to football. The Scottish-born Edward Farquharson Johnston was one of Sevilla's founders, also becoming their first president. On 14 October 1905, the club's articles of association were registered in the Civil Government of Seville under the presidency of the Jerez-born José Luis Gallegos Arnosa. Sevilla are also the most successful football club in Andalusia in terms of titles, with eighteen Andalusian Cups, one La Liga title in 1945–46, five Spanish Cup titles (1935, 1939, 1948, 2007 and 2010), one Spanish Super Cup (2007), a record seven UEFA Cups / UEFA Europa Leagues (2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020, and 2023) and one UEFA Super Cup (2006). Sociedad Anónima Deportiva
Sociedad anónima deportiva ("Public limited sports company") is a special type of Spanish public limited company (known as in Spain). The new legal status was introduced in 1990 to improve financial management and transparency in sports clubs. Many Spanish Association football, football and basketball clubs add the suffix S.A.D. to the end of their official name, for example Atlético Madrid, Club Atlético de Madrid, S.A.D. Every club which plays in La Liga, Segunda División or Liga ACB and remains in the league is obliged to convert to S.A.D. status. However, this obligation was eliminated in 2022. For historical reasons, Athletic Bilbao, Athletic Club, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid C.F., Real Madrid and CA Osasuna, Osasuna were allowed to retain their status as non-commercial sports associations. 2009–10 Copa Del Rey
The 2009–10 Copa del Rey was the 108th staging of the Copa del Rey (including two seasons where two rival editions were played). The competition began on 22 August 2009 and concluded on 19 May 2010 with the final held at the Camp Nou in Barcelona, in which Sevilla lifted the trophy for the fifth time in their history with a 2–0 victory over Atlético Madrid. The defending cup holders were Barcelona, but they were eliminated by Sevilla in the round of 16. The 2006 UEFA Super Cup was the 31st edition of the annual UEFA Super Cup, a UEFA-sponsored football club match that pitted the winners of the UEFA Champions League against the winners of the UEFA Cup. 2005–06 UEFA Cup
The 2005–06 UEFA Cup, the 35th edition of the UEFA Cup, was won by Sevilla, beating Middlesbrough in the final. It was the first victory for Sevilla in a European competition, and the first appearance by Middlesbrough in a European final. The final took place at Philips Stadion, in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The match was refereed by Herbert Fandel. Middlesbrough sealed their place in the final on the back of two dramatic comebacks. In the quarter-finals they beat FC Basel of Switzerland 4–3 on aggregate (after losing the first leg 2–0 and being 1–0 down in the second leg, they scored 4 goals), this put them into the semi-final to face Steaua București.
