Seosamh Ó Cuaig
Seosamh Ó Cuaig is a native Irish language speaker and activist and member of Galway County Council from Connemara, County Galway. In 1969 he helped found Coiste Cearta Síbialta na Gaeilge, together with members of Sinn Féin. He is a member of Údarás na Gaeltachta, having served from 1989 to 1994, and re-elected in 1999. He works as a journalist and broadcaster with RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta. He has been involved in the production of a number of documentaries in Irish for film and television. Often described as an independent Republican socialist, he helped organise the James Connolly Forum in Galway. He has campaigned against the Lisbon Treaty and for the preservation and development of the cottage in Ros Muc used by Patrick Pearse. Irish (Standard Irish: ), also known as Irish Gaelic or simply Gaelic ( ), is a Celtic language of the Indo-European language family. It is a member of the Goidelic languages of the Insular Celtic sub branch of the family and is indigenous language, indigenous to the island of Ireland. Ros Muc
Rosmuc or Ros Muc, sometimes anglicised as Rosmuck, is a village in the Conamara Gaeltacht of County Galway, Ireland. It lies halfway between the town of Clifden and the city of Galway. Irish is the predominant spoken language in the area, with the electoral division (Ireland), electoral division of Turlough, Rosmuc, representing one of the highest percentages of Irish-speaking people in the country. The townland of Rosmuck is part of the Civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish of Kilcummin. Shell to Sea () is an Irish organisation based in the parish of Kilcommon in Erris, County Mayo. It opposes the proposed construction of a natural gas Gas pipeline, pipeline through the parish, as well as the ongoing construction—by Royal Dutch Shell, Statoil and Vermilion Energy Trust—of a Oil refinery, refinery at Bellanaboy intended to refine the natural gas from the Corrib gas field. It proposes instead that the gas be refined at sea, rather than inland, as is done with Ireland's only other producing gas field off County Cork. The Rossport Five () are Willie Corduff, brothers Philip and Vincent McGrath, Micheál Ó Seighin and James Brendan Philbin, from Kilcommon parish, Erris, County Mayo, Ireland.
