Semyonovsky District
Semyonov () is a town in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia, notable for being a major center for traditional handcrafts such as Khokhloma wood painting and matryoshka dolls. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 24,473. Geography The town is situated in an area of lowland bogs and forests, about northeast of Nizhny Novgorod, the administrative center of the oblast. The Kerzhenets River flows through the town. The surrounding area includes most of the Kerzhenets Nature Reserve, a federal-level strict ecological reserve, established for the protection and scientific study of the local ecology of the region. Semyonovskaya (Moscow Metro)
Semyonovskaya () is a station of the Moscow Metro in the Sokolinaya Gora District, Eastern Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line, between Elektrozavodskaya (Moscow Metro), Elektrozavodskaya and Partizanskaya (Moscow Metro), Partizanskaya stations. Semyonovskaya opened in 1944. Originally, the station was called Stalinskaya, as it was built under Stalinskaya Ploshchad. As part of De-Stalinization, the station was renamed in 1961 to Semyonovskaya for the settlement from which the Semyonovsky Regiment took its name. Semyonovsky Island
Semyonovsky Island ('о. Семёновский' in Russian) was an island in the Lyakhovsky Islands subgroup of the New Siberian Islands. It was located in the southwestern area of the archipelago, in the eastern part of the Laptev Sea. Before its disappearance, it was at 4 km2, one of the smallest islands in the archipelago. Semyonovsky Life Guards Regiment
The Semyonovsky Lifeguard Regiment (, ) was one of the two oldest guard regiments of the Imperial Russian Army. The other one was the Preobrazhensky Regiment. In 2013, it was recreated for the Russian Armed Forces as a rifle regiment, its name now becoming the 1st Semyonovsky Independent Rifle Regiment (). The Semyonovsky Regiment was the second oldest regiment of the Russian army, established in 1691 at the village of Semyonovskoye (now in Moscow) from the expansion of Peter the Great's " toy army," which was used to create the Preobrazhensky Regiment in 1690. They were both part of Peter's Western-style regiments and distinguished themselves in battle during his wars with Sweden and the Ottoman Empire. The regiment was part of the 1st Brigade (known as "Peter's Brigade") of the 1st Guards Infantry Division along with the Preobrazhensky by the time of World War I.
