Selçuklu is a municipality and district of Konya Province, Turkey. Its area is 1,931 km2, and its population is 690,667 (2022). Selçuklu is one of the central districts of Konya, along with the districts of Karatay and Meram. It covers the northwestern part of the agglomeration of Konya and the adjacent countryside. Flora Between 2004 and 2006, a study was carried out of plants in the district in the area of the Başarakavak and Tatköy neighborhoods, and the Altınapa Dam. Two species are listed as 'Endangered' according to the IUCN Red List: '' Clypeola ciliata'' (Boiss) and '' Silene lycaonica'' (Chowdh). Ince Minaret Medrese
İnce Minareli Medrese (; ) is a 13th-century madrasa (Islamic school) located in Konya, Turkey, now housing the Museum of Stone and Wood Art (Taş ve Ahşap Eserler Müzesi), noted for its ornate entrance, domed courtyard, ornamentally bricked minaret, partially destroyed in 1901, and exemplar Anatolian Seljuks, Seljuk architecture. History The Ince Minaret Medrese was commissioned in 1265 by the Seljuk vizier Sâhib Ata, Ṣāḥib 'Aṭā Fakhr al-Dīn 'Alī, who was one of was one of two major patrons of architecture in Konya in the decades after the city's recapture from the Mongols. Upon his death in 1285, he was buried in his "mosque complex" within the city. Iris Stenophylla
''Iris stenophylla'' is a species of flowering plant in the genus '' Iris'', it is also in the subgenus ''Scorpiris''. It is a bulbous perennial. Description ''Iris stenophylla'' has a very similar form to '' Iris persica''. But with different colouring. It has bulb with brown papery tunics,British Iris Society (1997) and fleshy storage roots. Sızma
Sızma is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Selçuklu, Konya Province, Turkey. Its population is 2,260 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Geography Sızma is a few kilometers west of the main road connecting Konya to Afyon. The highway distance to Konya is about . History There are ruins of Hittites and Roman Empire in the vicinity. But the town was founded by a group of Yörüks (nomadic Oghuz Turks) in the Middle Ages. The earliest name was Sizemene; but later on, it was shortened to Sızma. Economy There is an abandoned mercury mine in Sızma with the ore grade of 0.6 to 1% that was once a major economic activity of the town. Likewise carpet weaving is also declining. Sille, Konya
Sille, also known as Sille Subaşı and historically Sylata, is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Selçuklu, Konya Province, Turkey. Its population is 1,191 (2022). Sille Subaşı was one of the few villages where the Cappadocian Greek language was spoken until 1922. It was inhabited by Greeks who had been living there in peaceful coexistence with the nearby Turkish people, Turks of Konya for over 800 years. The reason for this peaceful coexistence was Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi, who was the witness of a miracle that happened at the nearby Eastern Orthodox, Orthodox Christian monastery of Saint Chariton. In the Turkish language the monastery is now called ''Akmanastir'' and is translated as, "White Monastery". Jalal al-Din Rumi constructed a small mosque inside the Saint Chariton monastery. Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden
__NOTOC__ Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden (), opened in 2015, is a butterfly house located in Selçuklu district of Konya Province, central Turkey. History and design The butterfly house was built by the Municipality of Selçuklu next to the Selçuklu Flower Garden (Selçuklu Çiçek Bahçesi) and the Adventure Tower (Macera Kulesi) inside the Butterfly Valley Park (Kelebekler Vadisi Parkı), one of the biggest urban parks in Selçuklu.
