Sele Priory
Sele Priory was a medieval monastic house in Upper Beeding, West Sussex, England. It was a Benedictine Order priory founded before 1126 and was dedicated to St Peter. It was a dependent priory of the abbey of St Florent in Saumur, France, and was thus considered an alien priory.Knowles, et al. Baron Saye and Sele is a title in the Peerage of England held by the Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family. The title dates to 1447 but it was recreated in 1603. Aaron Sele
Aaron Helmer Sele (born June 25, 1970) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) right-handed pitcher. Sele debuted with the Boston Red Sox in 1993. He was traded to the Texas Rangers (baseball), Texas Rangers after the 1997 season and was named to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, All-Star team in 1998. He signed as a free agent with the Seattle Mariners in 2000 and became an All-Star for the second and final time that season. He later pitched for the Los Angeles Angels, Anaheim Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Mets before retiring after the 2007 season. Sele won 15 or more games in four consecutive seasons from 1998 to 2001. His 69 wins in those four years led the American League, but during that stretch he had no wins and 6 losses in the postseason, the most losses for an MLB pitcher without a postseason win. The Sele is a river in southwestern Italy. Originating from the Monti Picentini in Caposele,Meaning "top of the Sele" it flows through the region of Campania, in the provinces of Salerno and Avellino. Its mouth is in the Gulf of Salerno, on the Tyrrhenian Sea, at the borders between the municipalities of Eboli and Capaccio (not too far from Paestum), in the beginning point of Cilentan Coast. Upper Beeding is a village and civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It is located at the northern end of the River Adur gap in the South Downs, north of Shoreham-by-Sea and has a land area of . The site is a bridging point over the river: on the opposite bank are Bramber and Steyning, making the whole area somewhat built-up. The civil parish also includes the smaller village of Small Dole to the north (nearer to Henfield), and the village of Edburton to the northeast. Sele Mill
Sele Mill is a late 19th-century mill building in Hertford, England. It has been converted into apartments. A blue plaque on the building () commemorates an earlier mill on the site, the country's first paper mill. History For most of its history, the mill used the power of the River Beane, a chalk stream which joins the River Lea at Hertford. A watermill on this site is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 when it was valued at 2 shillings. Sele at this time was a separate manor from Hertford. Its other resources included ploughland and meadow, but it appears to appears to have been a very small settlement: the recorded population was two households. In the late 15th century it was converted into a paper mill by an entrepreneur called John Tate. There was considerable demand for paper in England.
