The Segunda Federación is the third tier of the Spanish football league system, Spanish women's football league system, beginning with the 2022–23 season. With a format of two regionalised groups, it is the female equivalent of the men's Primera Federación and is run by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. History On 24 July 2018, the Royal Spanish Football Federation agreed to create a new second division between the Primera División (women), Primera División, featuring 16 teams, and the Segunda División (women), Segunda División, in which 112 teams were involved. In its first season, the league was to be contested by 32 teams divided into two groups: two teams relegated from the 2018–19 Primera División (women), 2018–19 Primera División and the 30 best teams from the 2018–19 Segunda División (women), 2018–19 Segunda División. 2021–22 Segunda División Pro (women)
The 2021–22 Segunda División Pro, named Reto Iberdrola for sponsorship reasons, was the 21st season of the second highest league tier of women's football in Spain, and the third and last season under a new two-group format. Summary After the unusual two-phase format adopted in the previous campaign due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain, the 2021–22 season began with its intended two-group setup as in 2019–20. However, it was decided that a single-division second tier of 16 teams (to be named ''Primera Federacion'') would be introduced for the next season, with a third tier (''Segunda Federacion'') taking the two-group setup above the existing Primera Nacional of six groups, which would become the fourth tier. Club Deportivo Atlético Baleares, officially called Balears Futbol Club, is the women's football section of CD Atlético Baleares. The club is located in Palma (Mallorca, Balearic Islands) and competes in the Primera Federación, the second level of Spanish women's soccer. Atlético Baleares plays its matches at Son Malferit. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (; RFEF) is the governing body of football in Spain. Founded on 29 September 1913, it is based in La Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas, a municipality near Madrid.
