Secretary Of Foreign Affairs (Mexico)
The secretary of foreign affairs () is the foreign secretary of Mexico, responsible for implementing the country's foreign policy. The secretary is appointed by the president of Mexico to head the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs () and is a member of the federal executive cabinet. The secretary is commonly referred to in Spanish as ''Canciller'' ("Chancellor"). The incumbent secretary, since 1 October 2024, is Juan Ramón de la Fuente. Juan Ramón De La Fuente
Juan Ramón de la Fuente Ramírez (born 5 September 1951 in Mexico City) is a Mexican psychiatrist, academician and politician who has served as the secretary of foreign affairs since 2024 in the cabinet of Claudia Sheinbaum. He previously served as secretary of health in the cabinet of President Ernesto Zedillo (1994–1999) and as rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from 1999 to 2007. He is a professor emeritus of Psychiatry at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and Chairs the Board of the '' Aspen Institute Mexico''. From 18 February 2019 to 13 September 2023 he served as the permanent representative of Mexico to the United Nations. Ezequiel Padilla Peñaloza
Ezequiel Padilla Peñaloza (December 31, 1890 – September 6, 1971) was a Mexican statesman. Born in Coyuca de Catalán, Guerrero, he served in the Senate, as Attorney General in 1928, as Secretary of Education from 1928 to 1930, as ambassador to Hungary from 1930 to 1932, and as Secretary of Foreign Affairs from 1940 to 1945. He was the President of the Chamber of Deputies in 1925. Emilio Cándido Portes Gil (; 3 October 1890 – 10 December 1978) was a Mexican politician, lawyer and diplomat who served as the 48th President of Mexico from 1928 to 1930, one of three to serve out the six-year term of President-elect General Álvaro Obregón, who had been assassinated in 1928. Since the Mexican Constitution of 1917 forbade re-election of a serving president, incumbent President Plutarco Elías Calles could not formally retain the presidency. José Manuel Puig Casauranc (31 January 1888 – 5 May 1939) was a Mexican politician, diplomat and journalist who served as Secretary of Public Education, Secretary of Industry, Commerce and Labor, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and federal legislator in both the Senate and Chamber of Deputies. Genaro Estrada
Genaro Estrada (June 2, 1887 – September 29, 1937) was a Mexican statesman, academic, and writer. He was Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico between 1930 and 1932 and the architect of the Estrada Doctrine, which stated that the Mexican government would acknowledge any foreign government, no matter how it came into power. This doctrine would influence Mexican politics all throughout the 20th century. Biography Estrada was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. He served as a journalist in Mazatlán early in life and moved to Mexico City in 1912, where he was professor at the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria and entered the capital's cultural and political life. He became involved in government after the Mexican Revolution. By the end of the 1920s he served as ambassador to Spain and minister to Portugal and Turkey. Aarón Sáenz Garza (1 June 1891 – 26 February 1983) was a Mexican politician. Biography He was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Sáenz Garza served as Secretary of Foreign Affairs (Mexico), Secretary of Foreign Affairs during Calles' time as president.
