Secretariat Of State Of Security (Spain)
The Secretary of State for Security (SES) of Spain is the second-highest-ranking official in the Ministry of the Interior. The SES is appointed by the Monarch with the advice of the Minister of the Interior. The Secretariat of State for Security that the SES leads is responsible for ensuring the free exercise of the constitutional rights, to direct and supervise the police forces, to coordinate the international police cooperation and to execute the government's policy about organized crime, terrorism, human trafficking, money laundering and related crimes. It is also responsible for ensuring the safety of all government buildings, to oversees the prison system, to ensure the good development of all electoral processes and collaborate along with the Customs Surveillance Service (SVA) in the border control. Aina Calvo
Aina María Calvo Sastre, known as Aina Calvo (born in 1969), is a Spanish academic and politician, currently serving as Secretary of State for Security (Spain), Secretary of State for Security since 2025. A former mayor of Palma de Mallorca, Calvo served as Secretary of State for Equality from 2023 to 2025 and as Government of Spain, Delegate of the Government in the Balearic Islands from 2020 to 2023. She also served as Director of Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation from 2018 to 2020. Biography Born in Palma de Mallorca, in 1969, she resided in Zaragoza for family work purposes until 1983, when she returned to Palma. She studied at Glasgow first as a graduate student with an Erasmus Programme, Erasmus scholarship and, later, as a professor at the University of Strathclyde.
