Sebastian Kräuter
Sebastian Kräuter (December 22, 1922, in Nițchidorf, Banat – January 29, 2008, in Timișoara) was the Roman Catholic bishop of the Timișoara diocese in Romania between 1990 and 1999. Biography Sebastian Kräuter was the son of businessman Balthasar Kräuter and his wife Katharina. His brother, Dr. theol. Franz Kräuter, was for many years the archivist of the diocese Timișoara. His father's ancestors came from the Palatine Hauenstein and migrated in the 18th century to Banat. Sebastian Kräuter attended elementary school in Nitzkydorf. He studied philosophy and theology at the seminary in Timișoara. Nițchidorf
Nițchidorf (literally " Niczky's village"; ; , originally ''Kutas'') is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Blajova, Duboz and Nițchidorf (commune seat). Geography The commune totals an area of , of which are agricultural land and are non-agricultural land. It is located in the plain area of Timiș County, in the hydrographic basin of the Timiș River, bordering Caraș-Severin County and the hilly area on the river corridor. History Traces of a fortress were discovered on the nearby Schlossberg ("Castle Hill"; ). According to Hungarian historians and Felix Milleker, quoted by , there was a medieval settlement here, attested in 1370 with the name ''Kwtus''. Augustin Pacha
Augustin Pacha (November 26, 1870—November 4, 1954) was a Romanian prelate, the first bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Timișoara. Born into a Banat Swabian family in Măureni (''Moritzfeld''), Caraș-Severin County, he was the twelfth of thirteen children and his father was a shoemaker. Following theological studies at the diocesan seminary in Timișoara, he was ordained a priest in 1893 in the city's Roman Catholic cathedral. In 1927 he was consecrated bishop at the Timișoara cathedral, becoming titular bishop of Lebedus. Three years later, he became the first Bishop of Timișoara, a diocese succeeding the former one at Cenad, the last bishop having departed Romania in 1923, leaving Pacha as Apostolic Administrator. Martin Roos
Martin Roos (born October 17, 1942) is a Romanian cleric, bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Timișoara. Born into a Banat Swabian family in Satchinez (''Knees''), Timiș County, he attended the cantors' school in Alba Iulia from 1957 to 1961. He began studying theology at the Roman Catholic Theological Institute of Alba Iulia in 1961, continuing from 1962 to 1969 at Königstein im Taunus in West Germany. In 1971, Carl Joseph Leiprecht ordained him a priest of the Rottenburg Diocese. From that year until 1973, he was assistant priest in Stuttgart. From 1973 to 1974 he was parish administrator in Stimpfach, becoming parish priest in 1974. Following the Romanian Revolution of 1989, his bishop, Walter Kasper, allowed him to return to his native country. In 1990, Timișoara Bishop Sebastian Kräuter named him director of the diocesan chancery.
