''Science, Not Fiction'' is the tenth studio album by English heavy metal band Orange Goblin. The album was released on 19 July 2024 by Peaceville Records. It is the band's first album to feature bassist Harry Armstrong, who joined after the retirement of founding bassist Martyn Millard in 2021. Reviewers noted lyrical content of a more serious nature than on the band's previous albums, with a focus on religion, science, and spirituality, plus a taste of sarcasm and a voice of reason among modern political discussions. The new lyrical outlook was inspired by singer Ben Ward's adoption of a healthier lifestyle. Critical reception The album received generally positive reviews from the rock and heavy metal media. Orange Goblin are an English heavy metal band from London. Formed in 1995, the band's lineup currently consists of singer Ben Ward, guitarist Joe Hoare, drummer Chris Turner, and bassist Harry Armstrong. Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep (band), Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily Distortion (music), distorted, Groove (music), groove-laden bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. Peaceville Records
Peaceville Records is a British independent heavy metal record label. The label was founded by Paul "Hammy" Halmshaw (of the bands Instigators and Civilised Society, as well as a former drummer of Sore Throat) in Dewsbury, England, in 1987. Originally a tape label releasing anarcho punk, the releases moved towards metal through crust punk and similar forms of metal-influenced English hardcore punk. Halmshaw started running the label full-time in 1988, although the original tape label incarnation was founded in 1981 as a vehicle for releasing Instigators demo cassettes. ''The Wolf Bites Back'' is the ninth studio album by English heavy metal band Orange Goblin. It was released on 15 June 2018 by Candlelight Records. The album was produced by Jaime "Gomez" Arellano, who is best known for producing recent albums by Ghost and Paradise Lost, and was recorded at Orgone Studios in Bedfordshire, England.
