Schweizerischer Verband für Frauenstimmrecht (SVF), was a women's organization in Switzerland, founded in 1909. It was one of the two main women's suffrage organisations in Switzerland, alongside the Bund Schweizerischer Frauenvereine (BSF). It was one of the main supporters of the yes campaign ahead of the referendum of 1971, in which women were granted the right to vote. alliance F (; by 2011) is the Federation of Swiss Women's Associations. History The presidents of the progressive women's associations from Bern (Helene von Mülinen), Zürich (), Lausanne () and Genève (Camille Vidart) dealt at the end of the 19th century AD with training and legal issues. In 1896 they organized the first Swiss women's congress and tried to join all women's organizations in a Swiss umbrella organization. Three years later they called Swiss women's associations to form the Bund Schweizerischer Frauenvereine, and so the founding of the Federation of Swiss Women's Associations (from 1971 BSF) was established. BSF targeted the "mutual stimulation, the common influence on political decision-making bodies, as well as the adequate representation of Swiss women in the international women's movement." 1971 Swiss Women's Suffrage Referendum
A referendum on the introduction of women's suffrage was held in Switzerland on 7 February 1971. Only men were allowed to vote and the result was that 65.7% voted for the introduction. The outcome was expected, as several cantons had introduced women's suffrage in the years previous, and the Swiss Government and several political parties actively supported Women's suffrage in Switzerland, women's suffrage. It was the second national referendum after one 1959 Swiss referendums#February: Women's suffrage, in 1959, in which men voted against the introduction of women's suffrage. Emilie Gourd (1879–1946) was a Swiss feminist and journalist. She played a leading part within the Swiss women's suffrage movement. She was the president of one of the two leading Swiss suffrage unions, the Swiss Women's Association, during 1914–1928. Annie Leuch-Reineck (born Annie Reineck: 26 November 1880 - 21 December 1978) was a Swiss mathematician and women's rights activist. She was one of the most influential participants in the Swiss women's movement during the 1920s and 1930s. Life Provenance and early years Annie Reineck was born in Kannawurf, a village in the countryside between Erfurt and Magdeburg in Germany. Erhard Reineck (1841–1932), her father, was a protestant church minister and superintentant (church administrator) originally from Magdeburg. Her mother, born Marie Godet (1847–1936), was from Neuchâtel in francophone western Switzerland. Annie grew up in Kannawurf and then in nearby Heldrungen. She received her early education at the home of her elder sister, Theodora (Theodora Reineck, 1874–1963). Later, between 1895 and 1898, she attended the "École Vinet", a secondary school in Lausanne.
