Saxon is an unincorporated census-designated place located in the town of Saxon, Iron County, Wisconsin, United States. Saxon is located on Wisconsin Highway 122 west-northwest of Hurley. The community was named after the Saxons, the ancient German people. Joseph J. Defer (1866–1929) served as postmaster of Saxon from 1904 to 1914 and as sheriff of Iron County. Wisconsin Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The Assembly is controlled by the Republican Party, as it has been for 28 of the past 30 years (only 2009-2010 are exceptions). The Saxons, sometimes called the Old Saxons or Continental Saxons, were a Germanic people of early medieval "Old" Saxony () which became a Carolingian " stem duchy" in 804, in what is now northern Germany.
