Satyapal Anand
Satyapal Anand ( hi, सत्य पाल आनंद , ur, ; born April 24, 1931) is an Indian-American poet, critic and writer. He has written several fictional and poetry books in four languages: English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. He has also received awards for his literary work. Personal life Anand was born in Kot Sarang, Chakwal district, now in Pakistan. He finished his primary education there and attended secondary school in Rawalpindi in 1947. After the partition of India, his family moved to Ludhiana in East Punjab, where he received his college education, earning a Masters in English from the Punjab University in Chandigarh with academic distinction. Later, he earned his first doctoral degree in English Literature with a thesis titled "Changing concept of the nature of reality and literary techniques of expression." Ahmad Adaya
Ahmad Adaya ( ur, ) (1927–2006) was an American real estate tycoon and philanthropist who was the founding partner of a California real estate company IDS Real Estate Group. He was known for establishing the New Horizon School for Muslim religious education in southern California. Biography Early life Adaya was born in Bantva Kathiawar, in the Gujarat state of India. At a young age, he worked with his father and uncle in the salt distribution business. He married Amina Dada in 1946 and the couple had a daughter. In 1947, when India was partitioned, Adaya migrated to Pakistan. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from University of Karachi in 1950. Later, he began a textile business as a distributor of yarns made in Japan and Europe. Adaya went to Southern California to visit his family in the mid-1970s. The Jawaharlal Nehru Trust Scholarship U.K. was founded by Admiral Lord Mountbatten of Burma in 1966 as a tribute to the India's first Prime Minister – Jawaharlal Nehru – after his death in 1964. The scholarship was funded by the Nehru Memorial Trust in London, U.K. and was mostly for one year period for studies in the U.K. In 1970, the Scholarship was awarded to Dr. Vinod Kumar Chopra (Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur) for Low Temperature Physics works with Dr. Kurt Mendelssohn, at the Clarendon Laboratory of Oxford University.
