Satanás (film)
''Satanás'' (Spanish for ''Satan'') is a 2007 Colombian film written and directed by Andi Baiz. It is adapted from the novel of the Satanás (novel), same title by Mario Mendoza Zambrano which is based on the spree killing committed by Campo Elías Delgado that took place in Bogotá in 1986. It was Colombia's submission to the 80th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee. Plot The film follows the lives of three characters, Eliseo, Paola, and Father Ernesto, living in the city of Bogota, Colombia, in the mid 1980s. Eliseo, a middle-aged English teacher and veteran of the Vietnam War, has difficulties creating and maintaining relationships (especially with women). He lives with his aging mother, Blanca, but they detest each other and argue constantly. Andrés Baiz
Andrés Baiz Ochoa (born 1975), also known as Andi Baiz, is a Colombian film director and screenwriter. As a film director, his first feature was ''Satanás'', based on the Satanás (novel), novel of the same name. He is known also for directing the film ''The Hidden Face (film), The Hidden Face'' and for the TV series ''Metástasis'' and ''Narcos (TV series), Narcos''. This is a list of submissions to the 80th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is handed out annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films.
