Sarah Perks
Sarah Perks is an international curator and producer of contemporary visual art, independent film and engagement. She will be Artistic Director for Visual Arts and Film of HOME, the centre for international contemporary arts, theatre and film formed by the merger of Cornerhouse and the Library Theatre Company. She is currently artistic director of Cornerhouse and is the founder of Cornerhouse Artist Film. HOME (Manchester)
HOME is an arts centre in Manchester, a central part of the city’s artistic ecology, and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. Since opening in 2015, HOME has built a reputation for high-quality, adventurous cultural programming and for supporting emerging and mid-career talent regionally and nationally. Phil Collins
Philip David Charles Collins (born 30 January 1951) is an English singer, musician, songwriter, record producer and actor. He was the drummer and lead singer of the rock band Genesis and also has a career as a solo performer. Between 1982 and 1990, Collins scored three UK and seven US number-one singles as a solo artist. When his work with Genesis, his work with other artists, as well as his solo career is totalled, he had more US top 40 singles than any other artist during the 1980s. David Shrigley
David John Shrigley (born 17 September 1968) is a British visual artist. He lived and worked in Glasgow, Scotland for 27 years before moving to Brighton, England in 2015. Early life and education Shrigley was born 17 September 1968 in Macclesfield, Cheshire. He moved with his parents and sister to Oadby, Leicestershire when he was two years old. He took the Art and Design Foundation course at Leicester Polytechnic in 1987, and then studied environmental art at Glasgow School of Art from 1988 to 1991. Talking about his final degree show, Shrigley later told ''The Guardians Becky Barnicoat, "I thought my degree show was brilliant, but the people who were marking it didn't. I got a 2:2. They didn't appreciate my genius. ��I didn't sell anything at the show – it was 1991, before the YBAs. There wasn't a precedent for people selling work that wasn't figurative painting". Jeremy Deller
Jeremy Deller (born 30 March 1966) is an English conceptual, video and installation artist. Much of Deller's work is collaborative; it has a strong political aspect, in the subjects dealt with and also the devaluation of artistic ego through the involvement of other people in the creative process. He won the Turner Prize in 2004. Early life and education Jeremy Deller was born in London and educated at St John's and St Clement's Primary School and Dulwich College before studying for his BA History of Art at Courtauld Institute of Art (University of London); he achieved his MA in Art History at the University of Sussex under David Alan Mellor. City College Manchester was a network of further education campuses in Manchester, England. History The network was formed in the late 20th century when institutions in Central Manchester, Fielden Park, Arden and Wythenshawe merged to form City College Manchester. It was the largest provider of "Offender Learning" in the Greater Manchester region. The college merged with Manchester College of Arts and Technology (MANCAT) to create an 80,000 student 'supercollege' known as The Manchester College in August 2008. Cornerhouse
Cornerhouse was a centre for cinema and the contemporary visual arts, located next to Oxford Road Station on Oxford Street, Manchester, England, which was active from 1985–2015. It had three floors of art galleries, three cinemas, a bookshop, a bar and a café bar. Cornerhouse was operated by Greater Manchester Arts Centre Ltd, a registered charity. The buildings Cornerhouse occupied two buildings. The main building, 70 Oxford Street, was built for John Shaw in the early 1900s and was a furniture store run by the family until it closed in 1985. The building on the other side of the approach to Oxford Road station was designed by Peter Cummings, completed in 1934 and opened as a cinema, Tatler News Theatre, in May 1935.
