Oregon ( , ) is a U.S. state, state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Santiam Academy
Santiam Academy was an early primary and secondary school in Lebanon, Oregon, United States, run by the Methodist Episcopal Church. History The predecessor of the school was founded by pioneers in 1852 in a log cabin. Santiam Academy was created on January 18, 1854, by an act of the Oregon Territorial Legislature, and a larger building was constructed between 1854 and 1856. Among the members of the first board of trustees were Delazon Smith and David W. Ballard. Attendance at the school dropped after the establishment of a public school district in 1870, and the academy shut down during the 1903–1904 school year. The church then turned the property over to the Lebanon School District. The building was torn down in the 1930s; in 1945, Santiam School was built on the site, across from Lebanon High School. Santiam Hospital
Santiam Hospital is a hospital in Stayton in the U.S. state of Oregon. Established in 1953, the 40-bed facility serves eastern Marion County and the suburbs of Salem. History A non-profit group was created in 1950 by civic leaders in the Stayton area with the goal of creating a hospital to serve the community. Funds to build the hospital were raised by subscription. In March 1953, Santiam Memorial Hospital opened. The hospital looked to expand by adding six beds in 1961 at a cost of about $90,000, but the lack of a sewer system in the city hampered the project. In 1968, the facility began working to build a helipad. On March 11, 1983, a nursing station at the hospital was robbed at gunpoint by a man seeking drugs. It was one of five hospitals in Oregon as of 2007 that did not participate in reporting errors to the Oregon Patient Safety Commission, however they are a current participant. Santiam Junction is a highway junction and unincorporated community in Linn County, Oregon, United States, at the intersection of U.S. Route 20/Oregon Route 126 and Oregon Route 22. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, the elevation is 3,750 feet (1,143 m). An automated weather station is located here, as well as highway maintenance facilities. The Santiam Junction State Airport is an emergency/recreational/aerial firefighting landing strip that is closed from the first snowfall until spring. The airport grounds permit fly-in camping. The Santiam Junction vicinity is listed by the National Register of Historic Places as the site of the Oregon Pacific Railroad Linear Historic District, which consists of roughly of the old railroad grade between Idanha and the line's Cascade Range summit. Santiam Junction is the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Oregon Route 22. The Oregon Department of Transportation has a maintenance facility located on the north side of the field. Santiam Pass
Santiam Pass is a mountain pass in the Cascade Range in central Oregon in the United States. It is located on the border between Linn and Jefferson counties, about northwest of Sisters, between the prominent volcanic horns of Three Fingered Jack to the north and Mount Washington to the south. Several other smaller volcanoes, including cinder cones and tuyas, are found near the summit of the pass. U.S. Route 20 connects eastern Oregon with the valley of the Santiam River on the west via Santiam Pass. One of the 19 or 20 lakes by the name of Lost Lake is located beside the highway just west of Santiam Pass. The Santiam River is a tributary of the Willamette River, about long, in western Oregon in the United States. Through its two principal tributaries, the North Santiam and the South Santiam rivers, it drains a large area of the Cascade Range at the eastern side of the Willamette Valley east of Salem and Corvallis. Watershed The main course of the river is short, formed in the Willamette Valley by the confluence of the North and South Santiam rivers on the border between Linn and Marion counties approximately northeast of Albany.
