Santiago South Cup
The Santiago South Zone Cup ( Portuguese: ''Copa da Ilha de Santiago Sul'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Kopa da dja di Santiagu Sul'') is the oldest regional cup competition in Cape Verde and is played during the season in the south of island of Santiago, Cape Verde consisting the municipalities of Praia, Ribeira Grande de Santiago and São Domingos. It consists of all the clubs from all the two regional divisions and are divided into about six rounds. The cup competition is organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Santiago Sul, ARFSS). The cup winner competed in the regional super cup final in the following season. Since 2007, the winner qualifies into the Cape Verdean Cup which were canceled from 2012 to 2017 due to financial and scheduling reasons. Santiago (Portuguese language, Portuguese for “James, son of Zebedee, Saint James”) is the largest island of Cape Verde, its most important agricultural centre and home to half the nation's population. The competition is organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul de Futebol, ARFSS). Santiago South Premier Division
The Santiago South Premier Division is a regional championship played in Santiago Island, Cape Verde and is a part of the Santiago South Zone Football Association. The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season while the last two placed clubs relegates in the following season. In 2007 and 2013 when Sporting Praia automatically qualified in the championships as they won their national titles in the previous season, a second place club qualified to the national championships. The division features 12 clubs in the premier division for the second time, Varanda and Delta were relegated into the Second Division, Tchadense and Benfica were promoted last season. In association football, a penalty shoot-out (previously known as kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) has expired. For example, in a FIFA World Cup, penalties are used in elimination matches; the round of 32, the round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and the final. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different players; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead.
