Santiago Muñoz Machado
Santiago Muñoz Machado (born 10 January 1949) is a Spanish jurist and academic, director of the Royal Spanish Academy and the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language since 10 January 2019. As a jurist, he specialized in administrative and constitutional rights. He is also a member of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences and editor of the ''Diccionario del español jurídico'' (''Dictionary of Spanish Judiciary'') and the ''Diccionario panhispánico del español jurídico'' (''Pan-Hispanic Dictionary of Spanish Judiciary''). When the body was named the Civil Administration, he was President of the Government from 1973 to 1980. The Most Excellent ( (male) or (female), literally "Most Excellent Lord/Lady") is an honorific prefix that is traditionally applied to certain people in Spain and certain Spanish-speaking countries. Following Spanish tradition, it is an '' ex officio'' style (the holder has it as long as they remain in office, in the most important positions of state) and is used in written documents and very formal occasions. The prefix is similar (but not equal) to that of " His/Her Excellency", but in the 19th century "The Most Excellent" began to replace the former.
