Santiago Gabriel Martínez Pintos (born 30 July 1991) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for La Luz. Club career Martínez started his senior career in 2011 with Montevideo Wanderers, making his professional debut in a 5–1 Uruguayan Primera División win against El Tanque Sisley on 3 April. He went onto make six appearances during 2010–11 prior to playing twenty-six times in 2011–12, a season in which Martínez accumulated twelve yellow cards and three red cards. He scored his first career goal in 2012–13's first match, an away win vs. Cerro Largo. In July 2014, Martínez joined Argentine Primera División side Quilmes on loan. He was sent off in his second start against Defensa y Justicia. Overall, he made six appearances. Salto, Uruguay
Salto () is the capital city of the Salto Department in northwestern Uruguay. As of the 2023 census it had a population of 114,084 and is the second most populated city in Uruguay, after Montevideo. Peñarol
Club Atlético Peñarol (), more commonly referred to as Peñarol, is a Uruguayan professional football club based in Montevideo. The club currently competes in the Uruguayan Primera División, the highest tier in Uruguayan football. The name of the club comes from the neighborhood on the outskirts of Montevideo, which itself takes its name from Pinerolo, a town in the metropolitan area of Turin, in the Italian region of Piedmont. The 2014 Torneo de Transición or Torneo Doctor Ramón Carrillo was the 124th season of top-flight professional football in Argentina. The season was scheduled to start on August 1, 2014 but was postponed after the death of Julio Grondona, president of the AFA on July 30. Finally, it began on August 8, 2014 and ended on December 14, 2014. The 2019 Liga Profesional de Primera División season, also known as the Campeonato Uruguayo 2019, was the 116th season of Uruguay's top-flight football league, and the 89th in which it is professional. The season was named as "100 Años de Racing Club de Montevideo" and was originally scheduled to begin on 9 February but its start was pushed back for one week to 16 February. The season ended on 15 December with Nacional winning their forty-seventh title by beating Peñarol in the semifinal. The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as Copa Libertadores de América (), is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is the highest level of competition in South American club football. The tournament is named after the '' Libertadores'' (Spanish and Portuguese for ''liberators''), the leaders of the Spanish American wars of independence and Brazilian Independence, so a literal translation of its former name into English is "''Liberators of America Cup''".
