Santa Lucía () is a municipality in the Boaco department of Nicaragua. It has a population of 10,300 (2006, est.) and an extension of 120.78 km2. The capital is the town of Santa Lucía located 94 km from Managua. Approx. 72% of the population lives in rural areas and 28% in the urban zones. Overview The economy is based mainly on agriculture with around 2,200 small farmers in the whole municipality. There are also some agropecuarian activities. The mayor of the municipality of Santa Lucía is Elba Maria Salinas Guzmán from the Constitutional Liberal Party (PLC). History Back in the days of the Spanish colony, the town of Santa Lucía was known as ''Potreritos'' (''small pasturelands'', in English) and was part of the municipality of Teustepe. Municipalities Of Nicaragua
The 15 Departments of Nicaragua, departments and 2 autonomous regions of Nicaragua are divided into 153 municipalities. The formation and dissolution of municipalities is governed by the Law of Municipalities (in Spanish language, Spanish: ''Ley No.40 - Ley de Municipalidades''), drafted and approved by the National Assembly of Nicaragua, National Assembly on July 2. 1988. Elba (, ; ) is a Mediterranean island in Tuscany, Italy, from the coastal town of Piombino on the Italian mainland, and the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago. The Constitutionalist Liberal Party () is a political party in Nicaragua. History The Constitutionalist Liberal Party is the political successor of the Democratic Party, a faction which has existed since Nicaragua became independent during the 1830s. After being defeated by the Legitimists (future members of the Conservative Party) in a civil war in the 1850s, the Democratic Party returned to power in 1893 under President José Santos Zelaya, who lost power in 1909. Under pressure from American troops who had occupied Nicaragua, the Democrats lost power the following year, and remained out of power until 1926 when, following another revolt, they forced the Conservatives into a coalition government. Teustepe
Teustepe is a municipality in the Boaco department of Nicaragua. It has a population of 26,800 (2006, est.) and an extension of 645.73 km2. The capital is the town of Teustepe, 94 km. from Managua with a population of 3,500 (2006, est.). Teustepe is sustained mainly by the agricultural sector, with about 20,000 units of livestock and secondly by agricultural activities. There are also some incipient tourism in the ''Aguas Termales'' (termal waters) region and a very small scale family-based industry (handicrafts mainly) in the urban and rural areas. Saint Lucy
Lucia of Syracuse ( – 304 AD), also called Saint Lucia () and better known as Saint Lucy, was a Roman people, Roman Christian martyr who died during the Diocletianic Persecution. Boaco () is the capital city and a municipality of the Boaco Department of Nicaragua. The municipality of Boaco has a population of 63,422 (2022 est.) and an area of 1,087 km2 (26% of the Boaco Department) while the department (state) is 4,177 km2.
