Santa Clara, Coclé
Santa Clara is a beach town in Coclé Province, Panama. The settlement is a small fishing village with tourist lodgings and Panamanians' weekend homes. It is located just off the Inter-American Highway, 11 km southwest of the El Valle turnoff and 100 km southwest of Panama City. The closest town is beach resort Farallón.Sarah Woods. ''Panama''. Panama
Panama, officially the Republic of Panama, is a country in Latin America at the southern end of Central America, bordering South America. Coclé Province
Coclé () is a province of central Panama on the nation's southern coast. The administrative capital is the city of Penonomé. This province was created by the Act of September 12, 1855 with the title of Department of Coclé during the presidency of Dr. Justo de Arosemena. It became a province, Decretory Number 190, on October 20, 1985. Coclé is primarily an agricultural area, with sugar and tomatoes as major crops. The province has a number of well-known beaches, such as Santa Clara, Farallon and Rio Hato, and tourist activity has increased in recent years. It covers an area of 4,946.6 km2, and had a population of 268,264 in 2023. Inter-American Highway
The Inter-American Highway (IAH) is the Central American section of the Pan-American Highway and spans between Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, and Panama City, Panama. History The idea of a road being built across all of Central America became a tangible goal in 1923 as the United States began conducting aerial surveys using the United States Army new photo reconnaissance and photographic aerial mapping technology. El Valle De Antón
El Valle de Antón, generally called El Valle, or Anton's Valley in English, is a town of 7,600 in the Coclé province of Panama. Geography The town is located in the flat wide caldera of the 6 km wide El Valle volcano that is inactive; there is evidence that it erupted as recently as about 300,000 years ago Environment Because of its elevation (600 m), the area is cooler than the Panamanian lowlands.Friar, p. 226. History 20th century Lonely Planet was founded by married couple Maureen Wheeler, Maureen and Tony Wheeler. In 1972, they embarked on an overland trip through Europe and Asia to Australia following the route of the Oxford and Cambridge Far Eastern Expedition.
