Sanne Ledermann
Susanne "Sanne" Ledermann (7 October 1928 – 19 November 1943) was a German Jewish girl who was killed by the Nazis in the Auschwitz concentration camp. Susanne is best known for her friendship with diarist Anne Frank and her sister Margot Frank. Early life and family Sanne was born in Berlin, the younger of two daughters of Franz Ledermann, lawyer and musician, and Ilse Citroën-Ledermann, a pianist. In 1933, when the Nazi party came to power the Ledermanns, faced with the threat of death because they were Jews, emigrated to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Sanne was admitted to the Jeker school, where her sister Barbara and Margot Frank were also admitted. Later in 1940, Eva Schloss, the eventual stepsister of Anne Frank, also attended class with Sanne. In 1940, the Nazis invaded the Netherlands, and Sanne had to move to a Jewish school. Barbara Ledermann
Barbara Charlotte Rodbell-Ledermann (née Ledermann; born 4 September 1925) is a German Holocaust survivor. She was the sister of Sanne Ledermann and a good friend of Margot Frank. Early life Barbara Ledermann was born in Berlin in 1925, the first daughter of business lawyer and notary (1889–1943) and Dutch pianist (1904–1943). Her sister Sanne (1928–1943) was three years her junior. Her entire family was murdered at Auschwitz concentration camp. She emigrated to the United States and married the biochemist Martin Rodbell. Hannah Elisabeth Pick-Goslar (born Hanna Elisabeth Goslar; 12 November 1928 – 28 October 2022) was a German-born Israeli nurse and Holocaust survivor best known for her close friendship with writer Anne Frank. The girls attended the 6th Montessori School (named after Anne Frank in 1957) in Amsterdam and then the Jewish Lyceum. They met again at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Goslar and her young sister were the only family members who survived the war, being rescued from the Lost Train. Both emigrated to Israel, where Hannah worked as a nurse for children. They shared their memories as eyewitnesses of the Holocaust. Early life Hannah Elisabeth Goslar was born in Berlin-Tiergarten, on 12 November 1928, the eldest child of and Ruth Judith Klee. Anne Frank (12 June 1929 — February 1945) was a German-born Jewish girl who, along with her family and four other people, hid in the second and third floor rooms at the back of her father's Amsterdam company during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Helped by several trusted employees of the company, the group of eight survived in the '' achterhuis'' (literally "back-house", usually translated as "secret annex") for more than two years before they were betrayed, and arrested. Anne kept a diary from 12 June 1942 until 1 August 1944, three days before the residents of the annex were arrested. Anne mentioned several times in her writings that her sister Margot Frank also kept a diary, but no trace of Margot's diary was ever found. ''Tales from the Secret Annex'' is a collection of miscellaneous prose fiction and non-fiction written by Anne Frank while she was in hiding during the Nazi occupation of The Netherlands. It was first published in The Netherlands in 1949, then in an expanded edition in 1960. A complete edition appeared in 1982, and was later included in the 2003 publication of ''The Revised Critical Edition of The Diary of Anne Frank''. These stories show what life in the Annex was like. For example, one story describes Mrs. Van D’s ‘dentist appointment’. Others show life before the Annex, such as telling on the class for cheating.
