Sanger–Harris
Sanger–Harris (later styled as Sanger Harris) was a department store chain based in Dallas, Texas. The chain was owned by department store conglomerate Macy's, Inc., Federated Department Stores and was formed from the 1961 merger of two Dallas-based chains, Sanger Brothers and A. Harris and Co., both dating back to the 19th century. At its height, the chain owned 20 stores, most in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex with some additional stores in Oklahoma and Arizona. In 1987, Federated merged Sanger–Harris into its Houston-based Foley's chain, which itself would be merged into Macy's in 2006. Most former Sanger–Harris stores have been demolished or remodeled. Sanger–Harris Building
The Sanger–Harris Building is a building in downtown Dallas that was opened in 1965 as the flagship location of Sanger–Harris department store. In 1987, Sanger–Harris merged with Foley's and the building continued to operate as the Foley's Dallas flagship store. It was closed in 1990 while Foley's was opening newer locations in the area. It is currently the headquarters for Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Architecture The building was originally designed with white columns and a mosaic. The outside has the Sanger–Harris name engraved in various entrances. The white columns are still a feature of the building's architecture. The mosaic however is no longer visible. Many of the Sanger–Harris branch stores around DFW replicated this same design. Hulen Mall
Hulen Mall is a diverse-scale shopping mall located in southwest Fort Worth, Texas, United States. Located at the southwest corner of Interstate 20 and Hulen Street, it is in the southwest side of the DFW Metroplex. The mall is anchored by two major department stores and contains 118 specialty shops and stores. History Hulen Mall was officially dedicated on the 4th of August 1977, designed by HOK and developed by The Rouse Company. Upon the mall's opening, a pre-existing Sanger-Harris would be joined by a Montgomery Ward department store as anchors. Collin Creek Mall
Collin Creek Mall was a regional shopping mall in Plano, Texas. The two-level, structure was built in 1981 and was located on the western side of North Central Expressway ( US 75) near President George Bush Turnpike. The mall's name was a combination of Collin County and Spring Creek, the latter of which it was built on top of. In 2019, following years of decline, competition from newer malls, and several ownership changes, the mall was closed for redevelopment. The structure has since been partially demolished, with the former atrium and wings set to be used as part of a $1 billion mixed-use development. Valley View Center
Valley View Center was a shopping mall located at Interstate 635 and Preston Road in north Dallas, Texas, U.S. It is owned and managed by Dallas-based Beck Ventures. The mall was formerly home to anchor stores that were once JCPenney, Macy's, Sears, and Dillard's. The demolition of the mall was completed in May 2023. Originally developed between 1965 and 1973, the mall flourished and expanded during the 1980s but began to encounter financial difficulties by the 1990s. Bloomingdale's closed its location in 1990, which triggered a court battle with the mall's then-owner, LaSalle Street Fund, when Montgomery Ward attempted to acquire the anchor space that Bloomingdale's previously occupied, which resulted in the space remaining empty until JCPenney opened in 1996. DallasNews Corporation, formerly A. H. Belo Corporation (), is a Dallas, Texas-based media holding company of The Dallas Morning News and Belo + Company. The current corporation was formed when Belo Corporation separated its broadcasting and publishing operations into two corporations (with the broadcasting division going to the "old" Belo; it was later purchased by Gannett, and its former assets are part of what is now Tegna). Southwest Center Mall, formerly Red Bird Mall, is a shopping mall located in Dallas, Texas. Originally owned by the DeBartolo family, it opened in 1975. It was, and remains, the only major one located in the southern half of Dallas. Its original name, Red Bird Mall, came from the Red Bird area of Dallas in which it is located. Woodland Hills Mall is a 1+ million square foot, super regional shopping mall located at 7021 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. It was originally developed jointly by Target Corporation, Dayton-Hudson Corporation and Homart Development Company, and opened in August 1976.
