Denmark was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1964 with the song "", composed by Aksel V. Rasmussen, with lyrics by Mogens Dam, and performed by Bjørn Tidmand. The Danish participating broadcaster, (DR), organised the 1964 in order to select its entry for the contest. In addition, DR was also the host broadcaster and staged the event at the in Copenhagen, after winning the with the song "" by Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann. Before Eurovision (DR) held the on 15 February at the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, hosted by Bent Fabricius-Bjerre. Nine songs took part, with the winner chosen by postcard voting. DR (broadcaster)
DR (), officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation in English, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925 as a public-service organization, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. DR shares many of its organisational characteristics with its British counterpart, the BBC, on which it was largely modelled. DR is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union. Bjarne Corydon will become the Director-General of DR in August 2025. Grethe Sønck
Grethe Sønck (born Grethe Ingeborg Nielsen Hald; 16 July 1929 – 12 February 2010) was a Denmark, Danish actress and singer. She was born in Hjerm, near Struer, Denmark, Struer. In 1946, she won a talent contest, and in 1947, she became a singer at the Restaurant Sommerlyst at Dyrehavsbakken. As a revue actress, she started in Cirkusrevyen at Dyrehavsbakken in 1962, and later came to Nykøbing Falster Revue. Personal life Sønck first married Hjalmar Nicolausen from 1952 until 1960, then she married Sejr Volmer-Sørensen from 1968 until his death in 1982. Hobro () is an old market and railway town in Region Nordjylland on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. It has a population of 12,360 (1 January 2025).
