Sandra Márjá West
Sandra Márjá West (born 11 October 1990) is a Norwegian Sami politician and festival manager of Riddu Riđđu. Career West has a bachelor's degree in Russian studies from the University of Tromsø. She has studied at the Samernas Education Center in Jokkmokk, Sweden. She was associated with Sámi University of Applied Sciences in the period from 2012 to 2013. In 2013, she was elected as a Sami representative for the Norwegian Sámi Association in the Gáisi constituency, and re-elected in 2017. In that same year, she became a member of the Sami Parliamentary Council. West served as project manager for Indigenous Youth Gathering (IYG) at Riddu Riđđu. From 2009, she was the Deputy member of Riddu Riđđu Searvi, and from 2013, she was the Deputy member of the Riddu Riđđu Festival. Norwegian Sámi Association
The Norwegian Sámi Association ( ; ; ; ), also known as NSR, is the largest Sámi organization in Norway. The association was founded in 1968. Purpose The NSR actively runs cultural, social, and informational work through local groups and Sámi associations. In total, 24 Sámi associations are attached to the NSR. The NSR is also active politically, running for elections in ''Sametinget'' (the Sámi Parliament of Norway) and sending delegates to the Sámi Council. The NSR was founded in 1968, so it has been contributing to the development of Sámi society and culture since before the Sámi Parliament was established. The NSR goal is to unite the Sámi people across different special interests. As such, the NSR is independent of any outside political parties or religions. The Sámi ( ; also spelled Sami or Saami) are the traditionally Sámi languages, Sámi-speaking indigenous people inhabiting the region of Sápmi, which today encompasses large northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and of the Kola Peninsula in Russia. Riddu Riđđu () is an annual Sami people, Sámi music and culture festival held in Olmmáivággi (Manndalen) in the Gáivuotna Municipality (also known as Kåfjord Municipality) in Norway. The goal of the festival is to bring forward both Sámi culture and that of other Indigenous peoples, indigenous peoples. Translated to English, the name of the festival is "small storm at the coast". Jokkmokk () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Jokkmokk Municipality in Norrbotten County, provinces of Sweden, province of Lapland, Sweden, Lapland, Sweden, with 2,786 inhabitants in 2010. Sámi University of Applied Sciences (, ) is a university that is located in the village of Kautokeino in Kautokeino Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It was established in 1989 and has about 200 students and 110 faculty, technical and administrative staff. It is one of 25 Norwegian state university colleges. Since 2009 it has been located at the campus complex of Diehtosiida.
