Bonanza, North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region
Bonanza, Nicaragua () is a town and a municipality in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. In 1996, the local authorities chose for the first time to vote. Bonanza Municipality has a population of 30,536 (2021 estimate). The majority of the population are of mestiza origin and banana cultivation is important for the economy. The gold mining activity in Bonanza also attracted the population of many parts of the world in the search of the metal. Transportation The town is served by San Pedro Airport. Sandino International Airport. History The airline began operations in November 1991. Road transport The road infrastructure is very well spread across the Pacific side, while the Atlantic side has less infrastructure. As of 2009, from a total of 19,137 km 2,033 km are paved and 17,104 km are unpaved. Public transport Public transport in Nicaragua is mostly served by buses on both short and wide range distances. There are five different types, based on the size of the vehicle, target group, frequency of stops and distance. Urban buses Urban buses (''Urbanos'') can be found in Managua, Estelí, León, Chinandega, Matagalpa and Bluefields. In most cases, passengers have to pay for each ride on a bus, with the need to pay again when switching to another. The costs differ from 2.50 C$ in Managua to 10 C$ in Bluefields.
