Samba-rap
Samba-rap is a fusion of samba and hip hop music. One of the first to propose a fusion was rapper Sabotage Sabotage is a deliberate action aimed at weakening a polity, government, effort, or organization through subversion, obstruction, demoralization (warfare), demoralization, destabilization, divide and rule, division, social disruption, disrupti .... Other artists exploring the genre are Marcelo D2, Rappin' Hood and Emicida. Interestingly, what is considered the first rap recording in Brazil may also be the earliest example of samba-rap. In 1964, singer Jair Rodrigues released the samba song "Deixa Isso Pra Lá" ("Never Mind"), which featured rhythmic spoken vocals that many music historians and critics recognize as a precursor to Brazilian hip hop. Samba
Samba () is a broad term for many of the rhythms that compose the better known Brazilian music genres that originated in the Afro-Brazilians, Afro Brazilian communities of Bahia in the late 19th century and early 20th century, It is a name or prefix used for several rhythmic variants, such as samba urbano carioca (''urban Carioca samba''), samba de roda (sometimes also called ''rural samba''), among many other forms of samba, mostly originated in the Rio de Janeiro (state), Rio de Janeiro and Bahia states. Hip-hop
Hip-hop or hip hop (originally disco rap) is a popular music genre that emerged in the early 1970s from the African-American community of New York City. The style is characterized by its synthesis of a wide range of musical techniques. Hip-hop includes rapping often enough that the terms can be used synonymously. However, "hip-hop" more properly denotes an entire subculture. Other key markers of the genre are the disc jockey, turntablism, scratching, beatboxing, and instrumental tracks. Cultural interchange has always been central to the hip-hop genre. It simultaneously borrows from its social environment while commenting on it. Sabotage (rapper)
Mauro Mateus dos Santos (April 3, 1973 – January 24, 2003), better known by his stage name Sabotage, was a Brazilian rapper and songwriter from São Paulo. Early life He grew up selling drugs in Brooklin Novo, a neighborhood in São Paulo’s South Zone. He gained fame in 2001 after the release of his first and only album titled ''Rap é Compromisso''. Marcelo Maldonado Peixoto (born November 5, 1967), also known as Marcelo D2, is a Brazilian rapper, singer and songwriter, co-founder of Planet Hemp. Biography A former vocalist of the band Planet Hemp, he started his solo career in 1998 with the album ''Eu Tiro É Onda.'' Antônio Luiz Júnior (born November 7, 1971), better known by his stage name Rappin' Hood, is a Brazilian rapper, singer, record producer, activist and former television presenter. He is famous for being a pioneer of the samba-rap in the mid- to late 1990s. Biography Antônio Luiz Júnior was born on November 7, 1971, in the ''bairro'' of Heliópolis, São Paulo. Emicida
Leandro Roque de Oliveira (born August 17, 1985), better known by his stage name Emicida, is a Brazilian rapper, singer, songwriter and MC. The rapper is known for his impromptu rhymes, that made him one of the most respected MCs in Brazil. Regarded as one of the biggest revelations of underground hip hop in his country, Emicida accumulates thousands of hits on every battle in his YouTube page and about 900 thousand views on his MySpace page. Jair Rodrigues
Jair Rodrigues de Oliveira (February 6, 1939 – May 8, 2014) was a Brazilian musician and singer. He is the father of Luciana Mello and Jair Oliveira, who also followed in his footsteps and became musicians.
