Samaria is an unincorporated community in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Bedford Township. As an unincorporated community, Samaria has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own but does have its own post office with the 48177 ZIP Code. Geography Samaria sits at an elevation of above sea level. The community is located about southwest of Monroe in south-central Monroe County. The community is centered along Samaria Road about halfway between U.S. Route 23 to the west and U.S. Route 24 (Telegraph Road) and M-125 (South Dixie Highway) to the east. M-151 ran through the center of Samaria east to U.S. Route 25 before M-151 was truncated in 1965, and both highways were soon after decommissioned altogether. Lambertville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 10,433 at the 2020 census. The CDP is located within Bedford Township. The Lambertville 48144 ZIP Code serves the southwest part of Bedford Township and small portions of Whiteford Township to the west. History The community was settled as early as 1832 by John Lambert and was given a post office named West Erie on June 13, 1834 in the Michigan Territory. It was so named due to its western location in Erie Township. The post office was renamed Lambertville on January 15, 1836 when Bedford Township was established. The post office closed briefly from March 25 to December 4, 1865 but has remained in continuous operation ever since. The Wabash Railroad was a Class I railroad that operated in the mid-central United States. It served a large area, including track in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Missouri and the province of Ontario. Erie Township is a civil township of Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,299 at the 2020 census. Sharing a southern border with the city of Toledo, Ohio, about southwest of the city of Detroit, the township is one of the southernmost areas included in the Detroit–Warren–Ann Arbor Combined Statistical Area (Metro Detroit).
