Samandıra Merkez is an underground station on the M5 line of the Istanbul Metro. It is located under Osmangazi Street in the Osmangazi neighbourhood of Sancaktepe. It was opened on 16 March 2024 with the M5 line extension from Çekmeköy Çekmeköy is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 152 km2, and its population is 296,066 (2022). It is on the Asian side of Istanbul. Istanbul Metro
The Istanbul Metro () is a rapid transit railway network that serves the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Sancaktepe is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 63 km2, and its population is 489,848 (2022). In 2008 the district Sancaktepe was created from parts of the districts Kartal and Ümraniye. The urban part of the new district was established as a municipality. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (, İBB) is the government agency in charge of the municipal affairs of the Istanbul Province. It is one of the 30 metropolitan municipalities in Turkey. Line M5, officially referred to as the M5 Üsküdar–Samandıra Merkez line (), is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro System. It is colored deep purple on the maps and route signs. The Istanbul Electricity, Tram and Tunnel Establishments () or İETT is the transportation authority in Istanbul connected to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality specializing in public transportation. History After nationalizing various companies and combining them in 1939 with law 3645, the “Istanbul Electric Tram and Tunnel General Directorate” reached the status it has today.
