Salón De Artistas Colombianos
The Salon of Colombian Artists () is a cultural event in Colombia, considered the event with most trajectory. This event is celebrated every year between August 5 and September 12 with two main categories a national event and a set of regional contests. The first version of the Salon of Colombian Artists was set up during the President of Colombia, presidency of Enrique Olaya Herrera whose administration tried to organize an official gallery. In 1931 the first official Salon of Colombian Artists took place in the Fine Arts Pavilion at the Independence Park in Bogotá. Ricardo Gómez Campuzano obtained the first place in painting and Luis Alberto Acuña in sculpture. Only until 1940 the first annual Salon of Colombian Artists was organized. Tito Lombana
Tito Lombana (1932 – 1998) was a Colombian sculptor and was brother of sculptors Héctor and . Biography Lombana won the first prize in sculpture at the 9th National Showcase of Artists of Colombia in 1952, for which he was awarded a four-year scholarship to study in Europe. He lived in Madrid, where he studied sculpting at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, and completed his studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence, Italy. In January 1957, he proposed and executed for the city of Cartagena '' Las Botas Viejas'', a monument in honor of the Cartagena poet , in allusion to his poem entitled "A mi Ciudad Nativa". The sculpture stood in Cartagena until the mid-1990s, when it was demolished to make way for a bridge. His brother, Héctor, recreated the sculpture and placed it by Castle San Felipe de Barajas. Alejandro Obregón
Alejandro Jesús Obregón Rosės (4 June 1920 – 11 April 1992) was a Colombian painter, muralist, sculptor and engraver. Biography Obregón was born in Barcelona, Spain. He was the son of a Colombian father and a Catalan mother. The Obregón family owned a textile factory in Barranquilla, Colombia. Most of his childhood was spent in Barranquilla and Liverpool, England. After returning to Barranquilla, he decided to become an artist. He studied fine arts in Boston for a year in 1939, then returned to Barcelona to serve as Vice-consul of Colombia for four years.
