Salvador Hernández
Salvador Hernández Mondragón (born December 31, 1973) is an athlete and Paralympian from Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico competing mainly in category T51/T52 wheelchair racing events. Career He competed in the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, United States. There he finished seventh in the men's 1500 metres T51 event, finished seventh in the men's 100 metres T51 event, finished fifth in the men's 200 metres T51 event, finished fourth in the men's 400 metres T51 event, finished eighth in the men's 800 metres T51 event and finished tenth in the men's 800 metres T51 event. He also competed at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia having been reclassified as a T52 athlete. He won a gold medal in the men's 200 metres T52 event, a gold medal in the men's 400 metres T52 event and a silver medal in the men's 100 metres T52 event. Para-athletics is the sport of athletics practiced by people with a disability as a disabled sports, parasport. The list of athletics events, athletics events within the parasport are mostly the same as those available to able-bodied people, with two major exceptions in wheelchair racing and the club throw, which are specific to the division. Certain able-bodied events are rarely contested as para-athletic events outside deaf sport; pole vault, triple jump, hammer (of which the club throw is sometimes considered the para-athletic equivalent) and the three hurdling events. 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships
The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships were a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. The event was the 7th edition of what is now known as the World Para Athletics Championships, held from 21 to 31 October 2015 at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. It featured 119 men's events and 91 women's events. The Marathon events which are traditionally part of the world championships were separated from the competition and instead held on 26 April as part of the London Marathon. Venues In January 2013 the IPC announced that Doha would hold the 2015 athletics world championships. Morelia
Morelia (; from 1545 to 1828 known as Valladolid; Otomi language, Otomi: ) is a city and municipal seat of the municipalities of Mexico, municipality of Morelia in the north-central part of the state of Michoacán in central Mexico. The Paralympic Games or Paralympics is a periodic series of international multisport events involving athletes with a range of disabilities. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, have been held shortly after the corresponding Olympic Games. 2023 Parapan American Games
The 2023 Parapan American Games, officially the VII Pan American Games and commonly known as the Santiago 2023 Parapan-Am Games, were an international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities. It celebrated the tradition of the Parapan American Games as governed by the Americas Paralympic Committee and was held from 17 to 26 November 2023 in Santiago, Chile. Bidding process Two bids were submitted for the 2023 Pan American Games. Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina both submitted bids. On February 1, 2017, the Pan American Sports Organization (now Panam Sports) announced the two cities as the official bids. Buenos Aires withdrew their bid in April 2017 due to not having the necessary finances or logistics to host this event and the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. Host city election Santiago was unanimously acclaimed as the host city at the ANOC General Assembly in Prague on November 4, 2017.
