Salman, Ordu
Salman is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Akkuş, Ordu Province, Turkey. Its population is 1,877 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town ('' belde''). It is situated in the mountainous area of Black Sea Region. According to town page, Salman was founded by Chepni people, a Turkmen tribe. Akkuş
Akkuş is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Ordu Province, Turkey. Its area is 697 km2, and its population is 21,258 (2022). The town lies at an elevation of . Geography Akkuş is in the foothills of Mount Argan in the Canik range inland from the Black Sea coast. Two rivers, the Tifi River, Tifi and the Karakuş (river), Karakuş are formed from streams running down from these mountains. The climate is typical of high pasture country, the district is under snow for four to five months of the year, and fog and rain for the remainder. The summer sun occasionally shines and when it does the lush green countryside is beautiful. The area could attract visitors on trekking or winter sports vacations but lacks the infrastructure for this at the moment. The local economy depends on farming, forestry and grazing livestock plus some handicrafts including carpet weaving. Ordu Province
Ordu Province ( tr, ) is a province of Turkey, located on the Black Sea coast. Its adjacent provinces are Samsun to the northwest, Tokat to the southwest, Sivas to the south, and Giresun to the east. Its license-plate code is 52. The capital of the province is the city of Ordu. Etymology '' Ordu'' is the word for 'army' in current Turkish, originally meaning 'army camp', during the Ottoman Empire an army outpost was set up near the present day city. The city, and later the province, derived its name from this. 2013 Turkish Local Government Reorganisation
Municipalities ( tr, belediyeler) are the basic units of local government in Turkey. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute the population of Turkey was 76,667,864 as of 31 December 2013. The majority of the population live in settlements with municipalities. The number of municipalities in Turkey was 2,947 in 2009. But in 2013, most of the small town ( tr, belde) municipalities were merged to district ( tr, ilçe) municipalities by the Act 6360 which came into effect at the 2014 local elections sharply decreased the number of municipalities to 1,394. Belde Belde (literally "town", also known as ''kasaba'') means "large village with a municipality" in Turkish. All Turkish province centers and district centers have municipalities, but the villages (and also subdistricts) are usually too small to have municipalities. The population in some villages may exceed 2000 and in such villages a small municipality may be established depending on residents' choice. Such villages are called ''belde''. Up to 2014 the number of ''belde'' municipalities was about 1400. However, on 30 March 2014 by the act no. 6360 all villages (those with and without municipality) were included in the urban fabric of the district municipalities in 30 provinces. Thus ''belde'' municipalities in 30 provinces were abolished. The number of abolished ''belde'' municipalities is 1040.
