Siau is an island in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, located in the Sangir Archipelago approximately off the northern tip of Sulawesi in the Celebes Sea. Sitaro Islands Regency (, although its formal name is Kabupaten Kepulauan Siau Tagulandang Biaro) is a regency located off the northern extremity of Sulawesi Island in the southern Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The regency was formed under ''Law Number 15 Year 2007'' from 2 January 2007 (), by separation from the Sangihe Islands Regency of which it had previously formed the southern part. Karangetang
Karangetang, also known as Api Siau ("Fire of Siau Island, Siau") is a volcano on the north side of Siau Island off the coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia. The island covers 160 km2, and had 46,459 inhabitants in mid 2023. It is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, having Volcanic eruption, erupted 41 times since 1675.
