Kitigan Zibi (also known as River Desert, and designated as Maniwaki 18 until 1994) is a First Nations reserve of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, an Algonquin band. It is situated near the confluence of the Désert and Gatineau Rivers, and borders south-west on the Maniwaki, Quebec, Town of Maniwaki in the Outaouais (region), Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. Having a total area of , it is the largest Algonquin Nation in Canada in both area and population. Notre-Dame-de-Pontmain () is a municipality in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Antoine-Labelle Regional County Municipality. The village itself is located between Camp and Dudley Lakes in the Lièvre River watershed. History European colonization began when logging companies started to exploit the forests of the Du Lièvre River in the second half of the 19th century. La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau (, ''The Valley of the Gatineau'') is a regional county municipality in the Outaouais region of western Quebec, Canada. The seat is in Gracefield. It was incorporated on January 1, 1983 and was named for its location straddling the Gatineau River north of Low. It consists of two cities, fifteen municipalities, and five unorganized territories. The area also has two Algonquin communities, Rapid Lake in the heart of the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve and Kitigan Zibi. Gatineau () is a provincial electoral district in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It includes parts of the city of Gatineau, as well as Val-des-Monts, Cantley, and La Pêche. The district was created from parts of Hull for the 1931 election.
