Sainte-Félicité () is a municipality in La Matanie Regional County Municipality of Quebec, Canada, located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. It is named after saint Felicitas of Rome, a Christian martyr. Its economy is based on fishing and agriculture. Notable people who came from Sainte-Félicité include Québécois pop singer Isabelle Boulay, who was born there in 1972. In addition to Sainte-Félicité itself, the municipality also includes the communities of Cap-à-la-Baleine, L'Anse-à-la-Croix, Le Grand-Deuxième, Le Petit-Deuxième, and Sainte-Félicité-Ouest. Felicitas Of Rome
Felicitas of Rome (c. 101 – 165), also anglicized as is a saint numbered among the Christian martyrs. Apart from her name, the only thing known for certain about this martyr is that she was buried in the Cemetery of Maximus, on the Via Salaria on a 23 November. However, a legend presents her as the mother of the seven martyrs whose feast is celebrated on 10 July. The Eastern Orthodox Church celebrates their martyrdom on 25 January. The legend of Saint Symphorosa is very similar and their acts may have been confused. She was a patron saint of healing. They may even be the same person. Matane
Matane () is a town on the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, Canada, on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River at the mouth of the Matane River. The town is the seat for the La Matanie Regional County Municipality. In addition to Matane itself, the town's territory also includes the communities of Petit-Matane and Saint-Luc-de-Matane. There is a ferry service which crosses the river to Baie-Comeau and Godbout on the north shore as well as a rail ferry service to Baie-Comeau and Sept-Îles. The name Matane was first assigned to the river by Samuel de Champlain as "''Mantanne''" in 1603. Its meaning is open to different interpretations, with the most common one being that it comes from the Mi'kmaq language, Mi'kmaq word ''mtctan'' meaning "beaver pond", since the region had an abundant beaver population. Saint-Adelme () is a parish municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec, located in La Matanie Regional County Municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. History In 1864, the area was surveyed and the geographic township of Saint-Denis was created. The Mission of Saint-Denis was founded in 1916, but real growth came in the 1920s, during the period of colonization of the Chic-Chocs plateau. For unknown reasons, the place, that was originally known as Saint-Denis, came to be called Saint-Adelme. In 1933, its post office opened. Charles-François Baillargeon
Charles-François Baillargeon (; April 26, 1798 – October 13, 1870) was a Canadian Roman Catholic priest and archbishop. Biography He was from Lower Canada and studied at the Collège de Saint-Pierre-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud and Collège de Nicolet followed by four years of theology at Quebec where his choice of the priesthood was confirmed. He was ordained in 1822 and became chaplain of the church of Saint-Roch and also the director of the college. He then served as a parish priest and in 1831 was appointed by Bishop Bernard-Claude Panet to the cathedral as a parish priest. This was an extremely taxing assignment, and he was also working on a French translation of the New Testament for Bishop Joseph-Octave Plessis. He became Bishop Baillargeon in 1851 and archbishop in 1867. He continued to be active in his vocation until his death.
