Saint Johns is a census-designated place located along the border between the Union and Clay townships of Auglaize County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 304. It is located between Indian Lake and Wapakoneta at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and State Route 65. Served by the Wapakoneta City School District, the zip code for Saint Johns is 45884. History Saint Johns was founded in 1835, and named for John Rogers, proprietor. A post office called Saint Johns has been in operation since 1838. Black Hoof
Catecahassa or Black Hoof (c. 1740 – 1831) was the head civil tribal chief, chief of the Shawnee Native Americans in the United States, Indians in the Ohio Country of what became the United States. A member of the Mekoche division of the Shawnees, Black Hoof became known as a fierce warrior during the early wars between the Shawnee and encroaching American settlers. Black Hoof claimed to have been present at the Battle of the Monongahela in 1755 when General Edward Braddock was defeated during the French and Indian War, although there is no contemporary evidence that Shawnees took part in that battle. Little documentary evidence of Black Hoof's life appears in the history, historical record before 1795. State Route 65 (SR 65) is a north–south highway in western Ohio. Its southern terminus is at State Route 47 near Sidney, and its northern terminus is at its interchange with Interstate 280 in Toledo. Wapakoneta (, locally , commonly shortened to “Wapak”) is a city in Auglaize County, Ohio, United States, and its county seat. Located along the Auglaize River, the city is about north of Dayton and south of Toledo. The population was 9,957 at the 2020 census.
