Nicola Groves
Nicola Groves (born 4 April 1989) is a British competitive sailor. She competed for Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Early life Groves was born and raised in London, England. When Groves was 10 or 11, her mother took Groves and her brother to a local sailing club, Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club in West Molesey, to give the children something to do during the weekend. Groves attended Exeter University where she competed in sailing. She was part of Exeter's winning team at the 2009 BUCS Fleet Racing Championships. She graduated in 2010 with a BSc in Human Biosciences. Career In 2013, Groves was paired with Penny Clark and competing for Team Great Britain in 49er FX skiff sailing event with her sights set on that event for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Low-point system is a point system in the Racing Rules of Sailing The ''Racing Rules of Sailing'' (often abbreviated to RRS) govern the conduct of yacht racing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, model boat racing, dinghy racing and virtually any other form of racing around a course with more than one vessel while power ... where all the boats in each race of the series score the same number of points as they finish in the race, so that the first boat to cross the finish line gets one point, the second two points. Boats that don't start, finish, retires or are disqualified are scored one more point than the total entrants of the series. Nikola Girke
Nikola Girke (born December 30, 1977, in Grande Prairie, Alberta) is a Canadian sailor and a five-time Olympian. She is amongst only a few elite athletes who have made the transition from one sport to another and has achieved a top 10 in the world across three different sport disciplines. She finished 13th at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the 470, then switched to RSX windsurfing and placed 17th at the 2008 Summer Olympics. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she finished 10th in the RS:X. Girke was named to Canada's 2016 Olympic team to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the Nacra 17 with Luke Ramsay. The duo placed 15th.
