Saeed Jeffery
Saeed Jeffery is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'', played by Andrew Johnson from 19 February to 26 December 1985. Saeed is the original owner of the First til Last grocery store. He is never truly accepted in Walford, and his arranged marriage ends in divorce after it is discovered that he has been making obscene phone calls to women. He leaves Walford in disgrace, leaving his business to his wife. Character creation and development Saeed Jeffery was one of the original twenty-three characters invented by the creators of ''EastEnders'', Tony Holland and Julia Smith. Saeed and his wife Naima were the first Asian characters to appear in the soap. Saeed Jaffrey
Saeed Jaffrey (8 January 1929 – 15 November 2015) was a British-Indian actor. His career covered film, radio, stage and television roles over six decades and more than 150 British, American, and Indian movies. During the 1980s and '90s, he was considered to be Britain's highest-profile Asian actor, thanks to his leading roles in the film '' My Beautiful Laundrette'' (1985) and television series '' The Jewel in the Crown'' (1984), '' Tandoori Nights'' (1985–1987) and '' Little Napoleons'' (1994). Shirley Cheriton (born 28 June 1955) is an English actress and performer, best known for her roles as Debbie Wilkins in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'' and her portrayal of Miss Prescott in the ''Are You Being Served?'' follow up, ''Grace & Favour''. Linda Davidson (born 18 June 1964) is a Canadian-British former actress and writer, who is best known for playing the wayward punk Mary Smith in the BBC soap opera, ''EastEnders''. Mary was one of the serial's original characters; Davidson played her from March 1985 to May 1988 and again for two episodes in 2019 and 2022 respectively. Albert Square
Walford is a fictional borough of East London in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''. It is the primary setting for the soap. ''EastEnders'' is filmed at Borehamwood in Hertfordshire, towards the north-west of London. Much of the location work is filmed in nearby Watford, which was chosen for many of the exterior scenes due to its close proximity and the town's name being so similar to Walford. Thus, any stray road signs or advertising boards which are accidentally filmed in the back of shots will appear to read Walford. Anna Wing
Anna Wing (30 October 1914 – 7 July 2013) was a British actress who had a long career in television and theatre, known for portraying the role of Beale family matriarch Lou Beale in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''.
